A few years ago we had a restaurant here in Newark, in the Arcade. Now, the Arcade has a long history, was the first of its kind in the country, a completely enclosed shopping mall, stores, offices, movie theatres, dance halls, almost a city, enclosed. People came from all over the world to see the Arcade.
On an occasion, or two, something would startle me as I was doing the books or working in the kitchen, just some little thing would happen, or something I would catch out of the corner of my eye.
I did a daily FAX to our customers, and the Story of Jim and Jessie evolved from that. It is a story I wrote, but there is perhaps some truth to it. I will submit it here, not all at once, but in a serial form.
