What Goes Around Comes Around

I had some "quiet" time this morning, waiting for my wife to get ready. I looked up a balance on a credit card in anticipation of getting gas later on today, and started looking at my poor, held together with duct tape billfold. Been through a lot with that billfold.

I looked in the "secret" compartment side, and it was empty, made me think back to my younger days.

I think I was in high school, back in the 40's when I really started carrying a billfold. I remember stashing a $5 in the back for emergency money.

Then later on, in college, I think I kept a $10 in there, and in the Navy, that got up to a $20. In my Nevada days, it grew to $100, and even in my later Nevada years, kept a "bankroll" hidden of around $500.

Then I moved back to Ohio, and for many years, I kept that $100 buried in the back. Have always kept at least $100 for emergencies, until the last few years when it dwindled down to a $50, then a $20 a $10, and then to a $5.

There is nothing in that empty space now, just good memories.

I remember one time someone was interviewing Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, billionaires, and asked how much money they had in their pockets.  They each only had a few hundred on them, and that was because they were going to play poker later on that night, they generally didn't carry that much, so, I guess proportionately, I shouldn't have any.

That old billfold compartment has seen good times and bad, ups and downs.

I've forgotten, the hundred dollar bill, that has two zeros, right?
