Christmas Eve, 2010, now going on 4 PM and there is a hush and a stillness in me and around me like no other time of the year. I am sitting here listening to Christmas music, and so many memories come back, I think I still feel some of the excitement that I did 75 years ago, because I know it is Christmas Eve.
Flashes of 319 South Brown Street, 126 Lookout Drive, being aboard ship on Christmas Day. Actually, that year we did not have a December 25, we crossed the International Date Line and had no 25th. There were passengers aboard the old Mitchell, some kids, so we lied, and had a 25th for them, not in the ships log though.
I am sure that I will be giving a few glances toward the sky tonight, just in case. I may even see something up there, you never know, that's why I look.
