SMI 2/15/14

Saturday morning, cold and a lot of snow on the ground, but the SUN is out, nice and bright, puts a whole new brightness on the day. Not sure why but my thoughts always go back to Alice Tuttle, and her Saturday morning house cleaning ritual.

Had to spend some time yesterday afternoon with Miss Brooklyn and Miss Emma, great granddaughters. What a delight. They brighten out day, much like the sun does today. Little Miss Brooklyn was happy, she had "Grammas" tablet or whatever it is, to work with. Three and she works with it like an old pro. Miss Emma is walking now, keeps us on our toes.

I missed it, did not see it, but USA beat Russia in hockey, just saw the headline. Won in a "shootout" ... whatever that is, must have been a great game. I remember that game "The Miracle" when a completely unknown underdog USA team beat Russia before. Probably one of my great sports memories, along with Bolt winning that 100 in the Summer Olympics, record time and he coasted the last few yards, awesome. I suppose that game will be on later today, but the anticipation will not be there, which is probably better for my heart. That reminds me, gonna take my blood pressure, excuse me. 130/68 PR87 ... not bad.

I am 81, I tell you that because at times I have a hard time realizing that myself. I look in the mirror and see my Dad. I sometimes, think to myself, if I did right now, how will this look, I do not think about dying much, but the thought does enter my mind, at times. I have two cans of coffee, will that last me. Will I ever buy coffee filters again. I anticipate staying around till my 90's, but, you never know. As I have stated before, I have already outlived my Dad and my Brother. I finally "bested" them, at something.

We are going to get out of the apartment, today, feel like I have been sitting on this couch, looking out this window, all my life. I did get some snow off of the van a little while ago, swept the walk some, have two trash bags to take to the dumpster, shower and shave, then, a trip to Walmart. Does you Walmart have those "Special" carts and skids cluttering up the aisles in the store? Ours does. Skids in the aisles, narrow, almost room, for one cart, so if the lady ahead of you, stops to talk, or look, you either find a different way around her, or, just wait. They remodeled the store, nice wide bright aisles, nice perception. Now, cluttered aisles, skids of product, narrow aisles to move through, entirely different perception. But, I have learned my lesson, I don't criticize what Walmart does. Whatever they do, is right, you don't get to where they are by making mistakes on a regular basis.

Almost noon, getting ready for our trip ........................ to Walmart.
