Homemade Wallpaper Cleaner

THANKS TO ROBYN, THIS BLOG HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF .. SHE INDICATED THAT THE RECIPE AS PUBLISHED WAS D A N G E R O U S ........ SO IT IS GONE.

Robyn has left a new comment on your post "Homemade Wallpaper Cleaner":

Kerosene and ammonia? Mixed with vinegar? I'd recommend starting with a safer home-chemistry project like making methamphetamine. That will only PROBABLY kill you, instead of ALMOST CERTAINLY like this recipe!

Words of Wisdom

The Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him most, he said “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

NY Mayor Bloomberg Bans All Clergy and Prayer From 9/11 Ceremony

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has rightly come under withering criticism for banning all clergy and all prayer at this year’s 9/11 commemoration ceremony. It is inexcusable for the mayor to ban prayer at a solemn event of this magnitude, a tragedy that deeply affected all Americans. The faith of millions of Americans in God sustained them on that day and the days that followed, and churches were packed the Sunday following 9/11 with people looking to their pastors for spiritual comfort and guidance.

So why would Mayor Bloomberg stick his thumb in the eye of every believing American? His ban contravenes all of American history, in which political leaders have persistently turned to prayer in moments of crisis, beginning with the first session of the Continental Congress that gave us the Declaration of Independence. His ban on prayer is both misguided and politically stupid. Why would he do it?

Pressure Grows on Hillary to Challenge Sinking Obama

I've said all along that it MIGHT happen ....

By Martin Gould

Will Hillary Clinton challenge Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination?

She says no, that she never wants to run for office again. But the pressure is growing on her to change her mind as Obama continues to slide in the polls — and as the left bloc of the party and Latino and black voters become more vocal in their disapproval of the president.

And when White House spokesman Jay Carney was asked about the possibility at a press briefing on Monday, he was less than convincing with his answer.

“You’d have to ask her,” Carney stammered after Lester Kinsolving of World Net Daily posed the question. “We’re fairly confident that we need to focus on the task at hand.”

More than 1 in 4 Democrats — 27 percent — say they want someone other than Obama to run next year according to a CNN/ORC International poll. And while Obama’s job satisfaction figures have been running at 39 percent, the latest figure for the secretary of state, albeit from March, put her with a job approval rating of 66 percent.

Talk of a Clinton run started when independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said last month that Obama needed a challenge because he has drifted too far to the right.

“There are millions of Americans who are deeply disappointed in the president, who believe that with regard to Social Security and other things, he said one thing as a candidate and is doing something very much else as a president — who cannot believe how weak he has been for whatever reason in negotiating with Republicans,” Sanders said.

Don't Shoot..................

Punctuation is powerful.

An English professor wrote the words:

"A woman without her man is nothing" on the chalkboard and asked his students to punctuate it correctly.

All of the males in the class wrote:

"A woman, without her man, is nothing."

All the females in the class wrote:

"A woman: without her, man is nothing."

Amazing we all learned English!

I think a retired English teacher was bored. You think English is easy??

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce.

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish furniture.

5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

10) I did not object to the object.

This is informative!

We all think eating fruit means just buying fruit, cutting it up and popping it into our mouths. It's not that easy. It's important to know how and when to eat fruit.

What's the correct way to eat fruit?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUIT AFTER A MEAL! FRUIT SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

Eating fruit like that plays a major role in detoxifying your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.

Let's say you eat two slices of bread, then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it's prevented from doing so.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments, and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach, and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

Eat your fruit on an empty stomach, or before your meal! You've heard people complain: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc. This will not happen if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. Fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas. Hence, you bloat!

There's no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruit becomes alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruit, you have the Secret of Beauty, Longevity, Health, Energy, Happiness and normal weight.
When you need to drink fruit juice drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT the concentrated juice from the cans. Don't drink juice that has been heated. Don't eat cooked fruit; you don't get the nutrients at all. You get only the taste. Cooking destroys all of the vitamins.

Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit-fast to cleanse your body. Eat fruit and drink fruit juice for just 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends say how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty, and a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E and fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange!

AN APPLE a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants and flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risk of colon cancer, heart attack and stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits and protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

EATING 2 - 4 ORANGES a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent and dissolve kidney stones, and reduce the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. Also a key source of lycopene, the cancer-fighting oxidant. Also found in watermelon: Vitamin C and Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene, good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer!

Can you believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this applies to you. It's nice to have a cold drink after a meal, however, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you've just consumed, which slows digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks.

HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE

Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they're asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Be careful, and be aware. The more we know, the better our chance to survive.

It can even be your life!

Fallen SEAL’s Dog Stays by Casket

Military.com
by Bryant Jordan

More than 50 Navy SEALs accompanied the family of a fallen brother on Aug. 19 in Rockford, Iowa, standing near the casket of Petty Officer Jon Tumilson to offer words of remembrance or prayer.

Joining those next to the flag-draped casket throughout the entire service was "Hawkeye," the fallen SEALs devoted pet – his "son" in the eyes of the Tumilson family, according to a report on ABC News.

"I couldn't not take take a picture" of the touching scene, said Lisa Pembleton, Tumilson's cousin. "It took several attempts since every time I wasn't crying and could focus on taking it, there was a SEAL at the microphone and I didn't want to take a picture with them for security and respect reasons."

An Email from my Daughter in Law in the Bronx, NY

Hi Dad,

We got water and food to keep us in for the next few days. Gil is constantly checking on us and wants us to stay with him because we're 3 blocks away from the marina which is part of the Long Island sound. But we're staying put.

Whole Food in Columbus Circle (where Brad works) is open 24 hours today. Thank God Brad was off today and off on Saturday. However he has to work on Sunday. All city trains and buses will stop running on Saturday at noon until Sunday or Monday. I don't know how do they expect him to work on Sunday if the trains and buses are not running. I have faith in God. He will prevent us from running into catastrophes.

Don't worry about us....we'll keep you posted.

Love,

Bernie

BIG BOX Stores .... know what they are doing, glad someone does

Forecasters don't expect Hurricane Irene to make landfall until Saturday. But for nearly a week now, big-box retailers like Walmart and Home Depot have been getting ready.

They've deployed hundreds of trucks carrying everything from plywood to Pop-Tarts to stores in the storm's path. It's all possible because these retailers have turned hurricane preparation into a science — one that government emergency agencies have begun to embrace.

At Home Depot's Hurricane Command Center in Atlanta, for example, about 100 associates have been trying to anticipate how Irene will affect its East Coast stores from the Carolinas to New York.

At times like this, the Command Center looks much like NASA Mission Control during a shuttle launch, says Russ Householder, the company's emergency-response captain.

"We've got all the key news agencies on the big screens up front," he says. "We're also monitoring our store sales so we can better be in tune to what's happening in our stores, and we're also connected live one-on-one with district managers in the impacted areas."

Preparing For Emergencies

Those district managers have been focusing on stocking a short list of items, Householder says, including generators, chain saws, water and tarps.

Householder says those supplies are flowing to stores because of a process that began months ago, at the beginning of hurricane season.

"We take storm product, both pre- and post-strike product, we stage those in containers and we have them in our distribution centers, really ready for a driver to pull up and pick up and take them to our stores," he says.

The system got a stress test a few days ago when Irene struck Puerto Rico, causing widespread power outages. Householder says Home Depot stores switched to emergency generators.

"All stores opened up the day after the storm came through," he says. "We opened up on time and we were there, ready and waiting for our customers."
.
Walmart is able to anticipate surges in demand during emergencies by using a huge historical database of sales from each store as well as sophisticated predictive techniques.

With Irene on the way, that system is helping them allocate things like batteries, ready-to-eat foods and cleaning supplies to areas in the storm's path.

Walmart also has the advantage of having a staff meteorologist.

"When those forecasts come out, it's great to have somebody in-house that can evaluate that information so that we can give real-time information to our associates, not only here at headquarters but out in the field," he says.

Knowing What People Want

Walmart's preparedness system helped the company emerge as a hero after Katrina, says Steve Horwitz, an economist at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., who studied the company's response.

"They know exactly what people want after a hurricane," he says. "One of my favorite stories from Katrina is that the most popular food item after a major storm like this is strawberry Pop-Tarts."

Katrina showed that Wal-Mart was willing to let its employees improvise when they encountered something no computer could predict, Horwitz says.

In Waveland, Miss., where a Walmart was badly damaged, "they sort of pushed all this stuff into the parking lot and basically gave it away to the community," he says. "In other places, they broke into their own pharmacy to get drugs for local hospitals."

Since Katrina, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has begun studying ways to work with the private sector during emergencies. And the state of Florida has actually hired Bryan Koon, Walmart's former emergency manager, to run its Division of Emergency Management.

"What I learned at Walmart helps me here to be able to make sure that we are putting those retailers in the best possible position to be successful in a situation like this," Koon says.

If most people can get what they need from stores after a hurricane, Koon says, agencies like his can focus on the less fortunate victims.

Martin Luther King Memorial Made in China

A herd of cows, a flock of chickens.........

The English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective nouns for the various groups of animals. We are all familiar with a herd of cows, a flock of chickens, a school of fish and a gaggle of geese.

However, less widely known is a pride of lions, a murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens), an exaltation of doves and, presumably because they look so wise or stupid? , a parliament of owls.

Now consider a group of baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates.

And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?

Believe it or not ....... A congress!

I guess that pretty much explains it.

A Possible BILLION DOLLAR Disaster about to happen

Nursing homes and hospitals in New York City's primary evacuation zone must begin evacuating or prove to city officials why they won't, Mayor Bloomberg said Thursday as Hurricane Irene approached North Carolina on its way to New York.

MTA Chairman Jay Walder said the agency might also have to suspend all of its trains and buses on Saturday. That includes Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road along with city subways and buses.

Forecasters say a few showers could break out ahead of the storm on Saturday afternoon, with the wind and surf building into that night. If Hurricane Irene stays on the projected path, it could slice across the New York area sometime early Sunday as a Category 2 storm and then quickly head up into New England on Sunday late afternoon.

Irene on the way .... be safe in the East ...

Hurricane Irene has strengthened to a major Category 3 storm over the Bahamas, and there are still questions about the path the storm will take once the system gets closer to the tri-state this weekend.

Forecasters say a few showers could break out ahead of the storm on Saturday afternoon, with the wind and surf building into that night.

If Irene stays on the projected path, it could slice across Long Island sometime early Sunday and then quickly head up into New England on Sunday late afternoon.

Meanwhile, officials are calculating what they need to do if Irene becomes the first major hurricane to strike the East Coast in seven years.

They're scrambling to inspect bridges, dusting off evacuation plans and getting sandbags ready for potential floods. And considering where and when to move people out of harm's way.

"You have to recognize that you're living here on an island, and island living represents certain risks," said Edward Mangano, county executive in Long Island's Nassau County, where school buses were being moved to higher ground in case they're needed to evacuate residents to storm shelters. "And those risks appear now, at least, to be tracking toward us."

PREPARING FOR IRENE

Forecasters say when tropical systems get into northern latitudes, they tend to accelerate faster than the models project, meaning the storm might be out quicker, but not necessarily with a weaker impact.

Concerns include flooding from the tropical downpours, wind damage and beach erosion even if the storm does not make landfall.

Even without hurricane-force winds, northeastern states already drenched from a rainy August could see flooding and fallen trees from Irene.

"You want to go into a hurricane threat with dry soil, low rivers, a half moon," New Jersey state climatologist David Robinson said.

That is not the case. The Garden State has gotten twice as much rain this month as in a normal August, and high tide happens at 8 a.m. EDT on Sunday, when Irene might be passing by.

An official in a flood-prone section of the state is asking Gov. Chris Christie to release water from reservoirs in advance of the anticipated storm.

Pequannock Township Manager David Hollberg says the reservoirs are almost full and that could lead to more flooding than usual.

Hollberg says the township, Lincoln Park and other towns in the Passaic River basin have faced four major floods over the past 18 months that led to evacuations.

Hollberg also wants Christie to open the Pompton Lake floodgates instead of waiting for an automated system that activates when water rises.

State Environmental Protection Department spokesman Larry Ragonese told The Daily Record of Parsippany officials are considering the potential impact of the request on the supply of potable water and the impact to rivers downstream.

Did Fracking Cause the Virginia Earthquake?

Earthquakes in the nation’s capitol are as rare as hen’s teeth. The epicenter of Tuesday’s quake was in Mineral, Virginia, which is located on three very quiet fault lines. The occurrence of yet another freak earthquake in an unusual location is leading many anti-fracking activists (including me – they have just started fracking in Stratford, which is 40 minutes from New Plymouth) to wonder whether “fracking” in nearby West Virginia may be responsible.

Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, is the process of initiating and subsequently propagating a fracture in a rock layer, employing the pressure of a fluid as the source of energy. The fracturing is done from a well bore drilled into reservoir rock formations, in order to increase the extraction rates and ultimate recovery of oil and natural gas and coal seam gas.

The Depression Party

I have heard from so many people, all over the world, who want to join the Depression Party .... "Heck, we are headed there anyway, let's enjoy the ride" ......... are some of the comments.

We will not have a Donkey or an Elephant just this little puppy............

He will be the logo for the Depression Party.

I am working on a website for the party now.

That's the saddest dog I ever saw, If you can look at him and not join The Depression Party, somehing is wrong with you,,,,,,,,,,,

This is Depressing .............

I got an email from MedHelp, caught my attention, listed the 15 Warning Signs of Depression.

Change in appetite and weight
Low energy
Trouble focusing
Apathy
Detaching from friends
Sleep
Irritability
Sadness
Feelings of Worthlessness
Suicidal Tendencies
Recklessness
Alcohol Abuse
Low Sex Drive
Pain
Prescription Drug Abuse

WOW, I am depressed and didn't know it. I don't have them all, but I see a lot of those tendencies in people around me, they must be depressed worse than I am.

Great idea for a Third Political Party, The Depression Party. If you have one or more of these symptoms, become a member of the Depression Party. I figure that with 99% of the vote we will win, hands down. Will be one heck of a Convention though. Most of those in office now will jump over to our side.

VOTE DEPRESSION - EVERYONE HAS SOME

And if you don't like our politics - APATHY - no one cares.

Keeping abreast of the situation ...........

When, who and how and why did they decide that under most circumstances, men could not see the nipple on a woman's breast. Ninety percent of it can be exposed, but not the red part on the end. Who decided that?

Why not the left half of the whole thing, or the right half, top or bottom. inside or outside. Why just the nipple?

There are nude beaches where the whole thing is exposed. Girlie magazines show everything, but have a star or a circle or some kind of cover, over that sacred nipple. Where did that custom ever start?

Some cultures don't cover anything, some "burlesque" shows exposed all, but had a pasty over that part of the breast.

Did women or men make that original decision? "Oh my God, don't show the nipple." Why was that?

Statues in the park will show men totally unclothed, women, the same, but generally something over the breasts.Do you think that God told Eve she could "bare it all" to Adam, but "keep a leaf or something, over those  nipples." God had infinite wisdom, but what was the rationale behind that decision?

What got me on that subject, I was waiting for my wife getting some tests done at the hospital and I was in their "Education" room. Nice and quiet, nice furniture, carpeted, quiet, great coffee, and I was sitting in this nice, quiet atmosphere, and on the shelf was a cross section of a breast, but I couldn't see the nipple because a book was in front of it.

I enjoy sitting in that room, great "People watching" place, windows, but secluded, I can watch everyone going and coming in the hospital. At my age, all my friends are either in the hospital or visiting someone, so I see a lot of old friends, but they don't see me, I like it that way.

If only ..................

I was asked to post this foto again, it is one of my favorites. As I recall, they found this little deer under their porch and the dog took over. I think they raised it, with the help of the dog, and returned it to the woods ... if only people could be so kind ...................

Maxine Waters: Tea Party Can Go 'Straight to Hell'

Monday, 22 Aug 2011 12:05 PM
By T.M. Golub

Rep. Maxine Waters told an angry crowd of supporters over the weekend that the "Tea Party can go straight to hell," a sure sign that Democrats are ratcheting up the rhetoric despite their frequent calls for civility in discourse.

The California Democrat last week told a Detroit crowd that she was frustrated with the Obama administration's approach to the economy, urging voters to "unleash" her on the White House.

But at the forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Saturday, Waters directed her ire at the Tea Party.

"I'm not afraid of anybody. This is a tough game. You can't be intimidated. You can't be frightened. And as far as I'm concerned, the Tea Party can go straight to hell," she said.

Video of her remarks was captured by the ABC affiliate in Los Angeles.

Waters and other lawmakers at the event were faced with a series of questions from residents about what the government can do to fuel job creation.

The TRUMPet Sounds

Fox and Friends spoke to Donald Trump about the current situation in Libya and how the administration is handling the U.S. position. Trump said since the U.S. has spent billions of dollars via NATO, and in the old days, being the victor in a war meant reaping the benefits, why wouldn’t the U.S. reimburse itself with Libyan oil? “What do we get out of all these things?” he asked, saying if the rebels are successful and gain control over the country’s oil reserves, they’ll be richer than some in our own country. He also commented on a story that reported China is taking control of the tremendous mineral deposits in Afghanistan, while we fight a war there, saying “we’re very foolish as a nation.”

“The Donald” also responded to questions about his opinion regarding a possible presidential run by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, whom he met for pizza in June in New York City, saying he didn’t think she was going to earlier, but over the last few days he has noticed it looks like she may be entering the race. Trump said he’s never thought President Obama would be tough to beat, but the Republicans have to pick the right person, and Rep. Paul Ryan’s attack on Medicare makes him untenable as a candidate.

Food for Thought - Something to Digest

by Ann-Marie Murrell

My husband had a business trip in the Palm Springs area so we decided to make a mini-vacation out of it. Thanks to an amazing Groupon deal we stayed at one of the nicest places we’ve ever been to in our lives: The La Quinta Resort and Spa, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. All the rooms are exquisite with gigantic Jacuzzi bathtubs in every room, 41 exquisite swimming pools and 53 Jacuzzi’s scattered throughout the lush, floral-covered grounds.

We got there on a Thursday and were in Heaven. The resort was virtually empty so we had entire swimming pools all to ourselves all day. We went from pool to pool like little kids, staring at the mountains and palm trees surrounding us. I seriously wanted to cry from happiness.

I need to remind my readers—this is not the type of place we would ever normally be able to afford to stay. We got it through a combination of Groupon, work trip (aka write-off) and making a deal with each other to only eat bread and water the rest of the month.

Still, we decided we just had to stay another night—Groupon or not—and called the front desk. Immediately we were told us the resort was booked the entire weekend because of a huge LA Unified teacher’s conference. (Cue sound of spa music screeching to a halt)

TEACHER’S CONFERENCE? My mother was a public school teacher for over 44 years and I couldn’t imagine her—much less her school district– being able to afford such swanky digs for a weekend conference, especially here in broke, almost bankrupt Los Angeles! How could those poor, hard-working LA teachers afford to stay at the ultra-expensive, ultra-luxurious La Quinta Spa and Resort of all places? Why aren’t they having their conference in a more affordable place?

Oh yeah—all the eucalyptus leaves must have caused me to temporarily forgot where I lived. Strike yet another win for the real owners of the entire state of California: Unions.

As we were (sadly) checking out, there they were—lots of angry looking teacher-types arriving with their bags and ID tags around their necks. Then we saw the signs welcoming them to the United Teachers of Los Angeles 2011 Leadership Conference.

Let's talk a little over a Cup of Tea

More and more politicians on both sides of the aisle are blaming the Tea Party for our problem – the economic crisis. Those accusers need to take out their calendars.

The economic crisis arose BEFORE the Tea Party showed up (April 2009) …and the Tea Party arose BECAUSE of the economic problems.

Let me remind you: the housing crisis began in 2007 because of the failure of leadership to watch over Wall Street, banks, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and S & P giving those toxic credit swaps a Triple A rating.

I wander today to the hills, Maggie ..

Heard this over the weekend, brought back a lot of great family memories, was one of Mom and Dad's favorite songs ............. Mom played it on the accordion .... remember sitting around the fire up at Burt Lake in Michigan, and friends and neighbors joining in singing this .........

WHY has it taken so long???

Bolstering the charge that debt-ridden California is an over regulated “nanny state,” a bill placed before the legislature requires hotels to discard flat sheets and use only fitted sheets instead.

The measure, which has already been approved by the Senate, is intended to reduce back injuries sustained by hotel housekeepers, who must lift heavy mattresses to change flat sheets.

“We are now going to make it a crime in California not to use a fitted sheet?” state Sen. Sam Blakeslee asked during a debate.

The hotel industry claims if the bill is enacted, hotels in the state would have to spend at least $30 million to replace sheets and buy appropriate laundry equipment, according to the Los Angeles Times.

California legislators past and present have evoked protests, and sometimes ridicule, by introducing bills that would outlaw spanking children, ban trans fats in restaurants, require calorie counts on menus, ban the cooking of shark fin soup, and outlaw Styrofoam food containers.

A bill pending in the legislature would require hospitals to provide patient-lifting equipment or teams of backup workers to help nurses avoid bank injuries when they lift or move patients.

The cost of providing a two-person lift team around the clock is about $375,000 a year, according to Jan Emerson-Shea, a vice president with the California Hospital Association.

As for the ban on flat sheets, Lynn Mohrfeld, head of the California Hotel & Lodging Association, told the Times:

“Californians will be outraged when they learn that instead of focusing on the many real problems facing this state, lawmakers want to regulate bed sheets.”

We need this kind of "thinking" in Washington, focus on IMPORTANT issues.

Wedding ring is in for repairs?????????????

Another piece falls into place.

In a press conference last week Obama was not wearing his wedding ring nor was he wearing his watch

When noticed, his staff said his ring was out for repairs. No reason was given for the missing watch.

So it's just a coincidence that Muslims are forbidden from wearing jewelry during the month of Ramadan.

We know he's a committed Christian "cause he said so during he campaign!" ...........

And I've got a bridge to nowhere to sell you also.

This is the same president that spent the Christmas holidays in Hawaii to avoid religious obligations as PRESIDENT at the White House. His children do not receive Christmas presents.

Let's just face the facts and quit trying to tell the truth, we have a muslim for president in the White House, and he has no knowledge of American history.

War On Terror’s New Targets: Veterans, Tea Partiers, Anti-Fed Activists

Two new videos recently released by the Department of Homeland Security add to the mountain of evidence that proves Big Sis has now dispensed with all pretense of the war on terror being focused on Al-Qaeda Muslims, as tools that were designed to catch foreign terrorists are now being targeted against Americans who are opposed to big government.

The two recent PSA's, part of Homeland Security’s “See Something Say Something snitch campaign, portray white middle class Americans as terrorists in almost all of the scenarios shown in the clips.

Far from representing some superficial nod to political correctness, this is in fact a deliberate effort by the feds to characterize predominantly white, middle class, politically engaged Americans as domestic extremists. It’s all part of the agenda to frame dissent against big government as dangerous radicalism.

Contrary to claims by the DHS that it does not profile, the bulk of literature and other training tools issued by the federal government over the last decade clearly go to great lengths to demonize informed, middle class, and predominately white Americans as the most likely terrorists, despite the fact that the 126 people who were indicted on terrorist-related charges in the United States over the last two years were all Muslim.

Oregon City Dumps Mayor for Not Showing Up for Work

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: August 20, 2011 at 7:12 PM ET

SODAVILLE, Ore. (AP) — A small city in Oregon has kicked out its mayor for not showing up to work.

The Albany Democrat-Herald reports that Sodaville replaced 35-year-old Brady Harrington with the city council's president.

The newspaper says Harrington missed council meetings in June and July, along with skipping three budget meetings.

The new mayor, Nick Heineck, says Harrington was occupied as a firefighter and student, but would not commit to returning to meetings when council members reached him by phone this week.

Harrington declined to resign. He was elected to his second term as mayor in November.

Job Creation - WHOOPS ........ wrong country

General Electric Co.’s health care unit, the world’s biggest maker of medical imaging machines, is moving the headquarters of its 115-year-old X-ray business to Beijing.

“A handful’’ of top managers will move to the Chinese capital and there won’t be any job cuts, said Anne LeGrand, general manager of X-ray for GE Healthcare. The headquarters will move from Wisconsin amid a broader plan to invest about $2 billion across China, including opening six “customer innovation’’ and development centers.

The division should have “double-digit’’ growth rates as the country converts from film and analog to digital X-ray technology, LeGrand said.

GE Healthcare, also the world’s biggest maker of magnetic resonance imaging and cardiac tomography scanners, got about $1.1 billion of its $16.9 billion in sales from China last year.

The X-ray business, whose financial results aren’t reported separately by GE, will hire 65 new engineers and support staff at a new Chengdu facility, the company said. GE has hired “a large number’’ of engineers who are in training, LeGrand said. GE, based in Fairfield, Conn., also has a global research center in Shanghai.

“Over the next five years, China will be GE Healthcare’s most important growth market,’’ said Rachel Duan, the China unit’s chief executive.

About 60,000 people work at GE Healthcare globally.

Macaroni and Cheese Ham Pie

THIS IS GREAT ... I have fixed it a number of times now, always good, a BIG hit at a recent family reunion. I had a hunch and made two of them.

3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (12 oz)
1 cup cubed cooked ham
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni (3 1/2 oz)
2 1/4 cups milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup Original Bisquick® mix
1/4 teaspoon salt
Chopped fresh parsley, if desired

1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 10-inch or 9 1/2-inch glass deep-dish pie plate with cooking spray.

2. In large bowl, mix 2 cups of the cheese, the ham and uncooked macaroni. Spread in pie plate.

3. In blender, place milk and eggs. Cover; blend on medium speed until smooth. Add Bisquick mix and salt; blend until smooth. Pour over mixture in pie plate.

4. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake 1 to 2 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with parsley.

Now it's biblical

A couple were in slow-moving traffic the other day and they were stopped behind a car that had an unusual Obama bumper sticker on it.

It read: "Pray for Obama Psalm 109:8".

When they got home they got out the Bible and opened it up to the scripture. His wife started laughing...

Then she read the passage. They couldn't believe what it said. they had a good laugh, too.

Psalm 109:8 ~ "Let his days be few and brief; and let others step forward to replace him."

At last -- I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for our president! Look it up -- it is word for word!

Let us all bow our heads and pray...........and pray hard !!!

Brothers and Sisters, can I get an AMEN?

If you like this, comment with an AMEN.
New York (CNN) -- When debris rained from the sky in lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001, the first responders to the terrorist attack did not turn away. They rushed to the World Trade Center buildings while the world around them crumbled.

Yet now, after all the wreckage has been cleared and the rebuilding has begun, their path is again blocked -- not by flying chunks of smoldering rubble, but by space constraints.

The first responders are not invited to this year's September 11 memorial ceremony at ground zero, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office confirmed Monday.

It's a painful insult for many of the approximately 3,000 men and women who risked their lives, limbs and lungs on that monumental day, puncturing another hole in a still searing wound.

In a statement, Bloomberg spokesman Andrew Brent said the commemoration ceremony is for the victims' families.

"While we are again focused on accommodating victims' family members, given the space constraints, we're working to find ways to recognize and honor first responders, and other groups, at different places and times," Brent said.

But first responder John Feal, founder of an advocacy group for the police officers, firefighters, civilian volunteers and others who worked at ground zero, assailed Brent's response, saying Bloomberg "lives in his own world."

"The best of the best that this country offered 10 years ago are being neglected and denied their rightful place," Feal said.

I'm glad I was born in the 30's

Why, time moved a lot slower then. This was, without question, the SHORTEST Summer I have experienced. It used to be a LONG TIME between the last day of one school year, and the first day of the next. Some people used to rent a cabin on a lake somewhere for the whole month of August. Now, you can't, school starts in August.

The "Long Hot Summer" is now just a  blink of the eyes. A month ago, Walmart started their "Back to School" displays and I thought they had jumped the gun, but no, school around here starts tomorrow. Halloween costumes are already on display, time sure flies.

No, I get to live a lot longer than kids of today will, can't explain it, but it has to be true.

Football season is right around the corner, colder weather, then Winter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and it will soon be Easter. Don't forget the World Series and the Super Bowl, hey, it will soon be Spring.

My memories are on old photographs, taken on a Kodak Brownie, developed at the corner drug Store, and pasted into scrapbooks, viewed on many occasions  whatever the occasion, when company or relatives came over, the scrapbooks came out, they still do today. They will last forever.

Now look at what they have for memories, discs, what a shame.

Little League Games are GREAT

If you are not watching these Little League games you are missing out on some great entertainment.

Many of these young boys have played together for many years, long seasons, a lot of traveling, up early, late to bed, been a long journey.

The World Series starts this Thursday, August 18.Be sure to be tuned in and follow all the games, true sports, the way it used to be. Genuine emotion, from the players, the Moms, the Dads and the fans in the stands.

The New AMV

It may look like something you might have pulled out of a Kenner G.I. Joe package during your salad days in the '80s, but the "Aggressor" off-road Alternative Mobility Vehicle is no toy. In fact it's very real, and the first prototypes are ready for testing by the men in green.

The tough-looking buggy uses a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain developed by Quantum Technologies. Green and mean, the setup provides strong performance credentials (0-40 mph in 4 secs) and affords the vehicle a level of stealthiness not found in conventional machinery. How so? It can run in a battery-only mode that allows the AMV to run silently and with a reduced heat signature, making it much more difficult to detect when it's operating covertly. Seems like a no-brainer for the military, as quieter will always be better when working in hostile environments.

The vehicle and its powertrain, according to Popular Mechanics, have also been talked about for potential use domestically in roles such as border patrol and park service duty. The quieter operations of hybrid vehicles is often touted as a nice side benefit when discussing passenger cars and commercial vehicles. For the military, however, it's clearly a big selling point. In a bit of a role reversal, the rest of the drivetrain's advantages are the gravy.

Any Questions??????

Eighty percent of Muslim Americans approve of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president, according to a newly released survey conducted by the Abu Dhabi Gallup Center, a partnership between Gallup and the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi.

According to the survey, 65 percent of Jewish Americans approve of the job Obama is doing; 60 percent of atheists, agnostics, and those of no religion approve; 50 percent of Catholics approve; 37 percent of Protestants approve and 25 percent of Mormons approve.

Although published this month, the survey of Muslim Americans was actually completed on April 9. (In Gallup’s overall polling in the week that ended April 10, Obama’s approval was at 45 percent, slightly higher than the 42 percent it hit last week.)

Never tell a lie...........

Robert, a Father, bought a LIE DETECTOR ROBOT which slaps people when they lie.

He decided to test it at dinner.

"Son, where were you today?"

The son said "at school dad."

The Robot slaps the son!

"Ok, I watched a DVD at my friends house!"

"What DVD?"

"Toy story."

The Robot slapped the son again!

"Ok, it was a porno" cries the son.

Dad yells "What! When I was your age I didn't know what porn was!"

The Robot then slaps the dad!

Mom laughs "HaHaHa, he's certainly YOUR son."

The Robot then slapped the mom

Great commercial

I love that one commercial, I think a Chevy one, about gas prices being so high that people can't afford to buy gas ........ their solution, buy a NEW car that gets better gas mileage. If you can't afford gas, how the heck can you afford a new car?

Car payments easier to make than buying some gas?

Something to think about ........

I received this today, read it, thought, "No Way," read it a few more times. Many of the things mentioned are happening, so difficult to say that "It could not happen here." Much of this is happening now. Picture Germany during the 20's and 30's, they thought it couldn't happen there, and all of a sudden, it had. Their WEBSITE.

These are indeed scary times for many Americans and the future is full of chaos and uncertainty.

But is it really uncertainty or is this part of a scripted plan being played out in the nation’s capitol?

In the three years since Obama took office, he has pushed legislation that has disregarded the US Constitution, given the federal government more power over businesses and the financial market and placed the nation on the verge of financial collapse. The head of one of China’s largest credit rating agency has said that the US dollar is being dropped as the reserve currency of the world’s economy. After the credit downgrading, the markets took a drastic drop on Monday.

Obama has instituted one socialist policy after another. The Communist Party USA has officially endorsed him for the 2012 election.

If you truly look at Obama’s life and the influence of numerous Marxists and socialists from his youth to the Oval Office, everything he has done starts to make perfect sense. His trillion dollar bailouts, Obamacare, and every other program that has resulted in the economic disaster we are in were done intentionally.

All that is needed at this point is for the rest of the economy to begin to collapse for President Obama to declare a state of Martial Law throughout the United States. Once Martial Law has been established, Obama will continue to disregard the US Constitution and establish more government control over every aspect of life. Then before we know what happened, he disbands Congress and assumes complete and absolute control of the government and nation, establishing the first dictatorship in American history.

Will this happen? I sure hope not. Could it happen? So far, everything Obama has done is pointing in that direction.

Better learn CHINESE!

BEIJING (Reuters) - China launched its first aircraft carrier for a maiden run on Wednesday, a step likely to boost patriotic pride at home and jitters abroad about Beijing's naval ambitions.

The long-awaited debut of the vessel, a refitted former Soviet craft, marked a step forward in China's long-term plan to build a carrier force that can project power into the Asian region, where seas are spanned by busy shipping lanes and thorny territorial disputes.

"Its symbolic significance outweighs its practical significance," said Ni Lexiong, an expert on Chinese maritime policy at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.

"We're already a maritime power, and so we need an appropriate force, whether that's aircraft carriers or battleships, just like the United States or the British empire did," he said in a telephone interview.

The carrier "left its shipyard in Dalian Port in northeast Liaoning province on Wednesday morning to start its first sea trial," said the official Xinhua news agency, describing the trip as a tentative test run for the unfinished ship.

The aircraft carrier, which is about 300 meters (984 feet) long, plowed through fog and sounded its horn three times as it left the dock, Xinhua said on its military news microblog.

Message Received

Republicans held onto control of the Wisconsin Senate on Tuesday night, beating four Democratic challengers in a recall election viewed as a referendum on GOP policies in that state and beyond.

That marks a major victory for Republican Governor Scott Walker and a crushing defeat for Democrats and organized labor, which poured millions of dollars and countless volunteer hours into the recall effort.

They voted for change, decided they didn't like the change, and tried to take it all back. Ohio is trying to do the same thing, wonder if the results will be the same? I think the "change" party consists of a wide variety of  voters, some who want change and won't vote for it, some who want change and will vote for it. I think in a lot of cases what they say is different than what they want and believe. I think a message was sent out by voters in Wisconsin, that many will not like.

Should be THE LAW OF THE LAND

WHY are other states and cities NOT making this the law. I am tired of being a TARGET for drivers talking on their cell phones. Saw one the other day, talking on her cell phone, drinking coffee and talking with her passenger. She almost hit me making a left turn and cutting it too close.

Police in Suffolk County say 1,109 summonses were issued to drivers in a crackdown on distracted driving last week.

The cell phone-related violations were caught in the period between July 31 and August 6.

The initiative was meant to reinforce the new driving and texting law, which makes it illegal for any driver in New York State to hold an electronic device while behind the wheel, said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer.

Previously, a driver could only be ticketed for texting if they were caught doing it in the course of another moving violation.

Officers also issued more than 1,600 summonses for other vehicle and traffic law violations and arrested 78 people during last week's traffic stops.

Probably not a popular idea .........

I say, let's start taxing evangelists and non-profits, that's where all the money is. A lot of these "evangelists" are worth forty or fifty million, own jets, airports, fly all over the world, generally to vacation spots, in their private jets. Some poor little old lady in Peoria is scraping together twenty dollars a month to send to one of her TV "healers," while he is flying around in his private jet.

Google your favorite TV Pastor and see how much he is worth, see how he lives, check out his mansion of a home. In some cases, when a TV plea went out for money, it was to purchase a new, faster jet, so he could do "His" work faster.

"Not for profits" are just as bad, all hiding behind their status.

I say tax them all, we need the money, God only knows just how much is hiding behind those do-gooders.

Ironic, Hugh Hefner lists his net worth at 43 million. Pat Robertson is estimated at two-hundred MILLION, Kenneth Copeland, $769,000,000, and it goes on and on .............................

Anymore, I classify Politicians and Evangelists in the same category. Google TV Evangelists, check out their Net Worth ........... staggering. Amen

Sad, but true .............

Al Qaeda Resorts to Porn Sites to Recruit Young Operatives

I thought this was an interesting article and one overlooked by most media.

By CBS News

Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) used to post its statements and audio messages on pornographic websites, according to a Moroccan convicted in the robbing and killing of four French tourists in December 2007.

The Algerian daily Echorouk reports that Maarouf Ould al Hiba revealed during his interrogation by the Mauritanian authorities that the leaders of AQIM concluded after lengthy deliberations with their media committee that the "optimum way to propagate the recruitment campaign was to post it in one of the porn websites on the Internet."

According to the interrogation script leaked by Mauritanian security sources Maarouf said the initiative had been approved despite the prohibition of such an act from an Islamic viewpoint. Maarouf said that the group's theorists think that the end justifies the means.

A good thing to know ........... Ceiling Fans

I thought everyone knew about this, but in the last few days I have talked with some folks, got around to this subject, and enlightened them on something that they did not know.

In the Summer, adjust your fan direction so that the blades are pulling air up, the cold air on the floor is gently brought up to the hotter air in the ceiling

In the Winter, the opposite, direct the flow down, bringing the warmer air from the ceiling down.

This is my theory, I just got an email thanking me, from someone who changed their fans today, and noticed an immediate difference, much cooler in their house.

She told me, "A good idea for your blog." So, here it is.

This is OPPOSITE to general directions ............. YOU check it out and see what you think.

Interesting piece of information .....Baseless THREATS

I felt the "SS scare" was only that. I know people got their checks today, I got mine, deposited in the bank, right on schedule. This article explains what I was NOT concerned.

What happens to Social Security if the government shuts down?

"People don't get their Social Security checks." That was President Obama at a press conference last week.

And this is Harry Reid, the top Democrat in the Senate, in a statement on Tuesday: "A shutdown could ... mean no Social Security checks for seniors."

The Democrats are saber rattling, hoping to portray Republicans as irresponsible. And the claim has been repeated by other top Democrats.

Here's the rub: It doesn't appear to be true.

During the last major shutdown, which lasted about a month starting in late 1995, the Social Security Administration mailed checks throughout the crisis, and a close reading of established law makes clear the agency has the legal authority to do so again.

"I am absolutely sure the checks would be sent out," said John F. Cooney, a partner at law firm Venable who designed shutdown plans for the government while employed at the Office of Management and Budget.

Robert Reischauer, president of the Urban Institute and a trustee of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds, backed that view, saying claims that benefits won't be paid are "not true."

The legal case is pretty clear. In 1995, President Clinton's lawyers in the Department of Justice laid out how federal agencies should operate if Congress failed to appropriate funds.

Running the government on 8¢

At the time, Clinton's lawyers pointed out that Social Security checks could be mailed during a shutdown, because the program doesn't need Congress to authorize funds for it each year. Instead, Social Security benefits are paid from the program's trust fund.

The Therapist's Solution ........

Eileen and her husband Bob went for counselling after 25 years of marriage.

When asked what the problem was, Eileen went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 25 years they had been married. She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and after asking Eileen to stand, embraced her, unbuttoned her blouse and bra, put his hands on her breasts and massaged them thoroughly, while kissing her passionately on her lips.

Her husband Bob watched with a raised eyebrow!

Eileen stood up, buttoned up her blouse, and quietly sat down while basking in the glow of being highly aroused.

The therapist turned to Bob and said, 'This is what your wife needs at least three times a week.. Can you do this?'

Bob thought for a moment and replied, 'Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I  bowl."

........ the rest of the story .........

Here's a little factoid for automotive buffs or just to dazzle your friends.

The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Max, invented and developed the first automobile
air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees.

The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter.

Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately.

The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent.

The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a
label, 'The Goldberg Air-Conditioner,' on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed.

Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Semitic, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords.

They haggled back and forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first
names would be shown.

And so to this day, all Ford air conditioners show -- Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max -- on the controls.

Many thanks to James out in Oklahoma for this one ......

Subject: The Quote of the Decade

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

-- Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

What has Obama accomplished as President of the United States?

I copied this from a website I received in an email, Vision To America. I post it here as "food for thought."

Obama’s Report Card:

  • Increased America’s debt by 35%.
  • Increased unemployment by 18%.
  • Falsified Hawaiian birth certificate after illegally holding the office of President of the United States.
  • Violated the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution by exerting federal government over state’s rights.
  • Largest increase in federal government in history.
  • Created a national health care system, modeled after the failing systems in Canada and Great Britain, and which creates nearly 100 new government agencies and programs.
  • Made the federal government the monopoly agency for student loans.
  • Made the federal government co-owner of various industries.
  • Alienated one of the US closest allies –Israel.
  • Weakened the military by allowing gays to openly serve.
  • Refuse to defend US borders against illegal aliens.
  • Violated the US Constitution by requiring every American to purchase health insurance.
  • Openly embrace Muslims who have vowed to destroy America while at the same time pushing to remove more Christian rights from Americans.
  • Established more socialist policies than any President in history.
  • Removed more citizen’s rights than any President in history.
  • Striving to make 15 million illegal aliens US citizens in time to vote in 2012.
