Commentary

I think Limbaugh and Robertson should be taken to task for their remarks.

Comments from a radio host and a televangelist should not carry much weight anyway. I think it is rather pathetic when the spokesperson for the Republican party is nothing more than a glorified disc jockey/call in show (talk show, because he does most of it) host. What ever happened to "politicians" heading up the party. I have often wondered why he is not legally bound to end his show with a "disclaimer." Not just Limbaugh, ALL of them.

What happened in Haiti is a disaster. Politicians take the opportunity to turn it into something political. The press drains everything out of it they can. If all the TV personnel in Haiti would help with the disaster, shove all their microphones into their pockets, and do something, help in some way, it would help greatly in the relief effort.

If I am lying in the street with a broken leg in Haiti, I would much rather have someone try to help me, rather than photograph me, get me on camera and interview me. "How has this disaster and your broken leg affected your life, the people in America and around the world would like to know."

The timing of the earthquake was good for the networks, news was slow. Obama has not flown anywhere for a few days, Sarah's book tour has slowed down, about all they had was trying to blow up the Leno/Colin, whatever his name is, as much as they could.

I have always felt optimistic that if worse came to worse, out of money, no future, I could get a job as a late nite talk show host. It seems to be one of the few jobs that requires absolutely NO qualifications concerning talent. I think that if I was Colin I would keep my mouth shut and take whatever job they offered. He certainly is not worth what they are paying him.

The country and the world cannot come to a standstill while this disaster is being cleaned up. It would not be possible for everyone to stop what they are doing, and concentrate on Haiti.

All the people watching football games this weekend will not fore go the game to try to assist people, the game will go on. No activities will be curtailed.

But wouldn't it be nice to see the whole world stop, and say, "What can we do to help, let's get these people taken care of, let's get them living in some sort of housing, let's get the sick taken care of, let make sure they have food and water."

Then when we get all that done, the hungry fed, the sick healed, the homeless in a place to live, the abused and mistreated relocated, then let's sit back and watch football and basketball, let's go to the movies and concerts and watch TV, then let's worry about Leno and the other guy, after we get all that other done.
