Sunday evening Ramblings

I was born in 1932, have lived through and aware of the late 30's  and all of the 40's. There have been a number of TV shows on recently on the "Rise of the Third Reich."

I have always wondered how so many people could "look the other way" during those years, and not be aware of all that was happening in Germany. I'm sure that some questioned the policies, and probably were "dealt" with. But, how, can a whole country, turn their heads, and not look at what was going on.

They were mislead by their leaders, the media, their education system, it was all a diabolical plan to have people see and believe, in what those in charge, wanted them to see and believe in. When they saw, they looked the other way, when they heard, they only listened to what they were supposed to hear. Perhaps they were content and didn't want to believe.

How, could that have happened.

Could that somewhat be happening here and now, in this country. Are we gradually losing our rights and our freedoms? I know that I, for one, feel that our country is not the same as it once was.

I watched an old documentary on TV today, probably from the 40's or 50's ... a brief pictorial picture of our country, from the Pilgrims, the Indians, ( I must admit I am not sure if the Indians got a fair shake or not)Washington, Lincoln, a few wars, our "Nations Pride." I don't know that I feel that pride or not, anymore, what we once had, we no longer have.

What we once were proud of, has diminished. Our government has forsaken us. ALL politicians now, only have their best interest at heart. To me, the word "politician" congers up many thoughts, none of which are admirable.

The Marine Corp needed "a few good men," we, as a nation, need a few good men to  enter the field of politics, have not seen ANY come forward yet.
