Old "Twitch"

Just had a flashback to my high school and junior high school days, Oakwood in Dayton, Ohio. Actually it was out in Oakwood, a suburb of Dayton, out South, where the more affluent lived. Actually, Orville Wright lived out there, the Patterson Estate, one of the founders of National Cash Register. Charles "Boss" Kettering lived nearby, he invented the electric starter for the automobile, among other things.

This involved Mr. Alford, I forget what he taught, but Mr. Alford has a slight nervous "twitch." around his mouth, and he moved his head a little when it happened.

I think his class was the first one after lunch.

Well, we would  have iced tea for lunch, generally get a refill, and save the lemon slices, which we would then take into class, and as Mr. Alford was giving his lecture, we would start sucking and chewing on the lemon slices, which would cause his mouth to start filling with saliva, followed by a lot of swallowing.

We just did it on a few occasions, but it worked each time we did it.

"Twitch" is gone, I am sure, but I often think of him.
