Tuesday morning .... the day after ..... Boston

I turned the news on first. If Boston thought they had an influx of people for the Marathon, now the news is descending upon them. Why do all these local stations feel they have to have someone, "on the spot."?

I now am listening to music on the TV, becoming my favorite station. This is music from the 30's and 40's, right now, Red Norvo and Jivin the Jeep .... takes me back, way back.

A neighbor across the street has her American flag out today, we will all be "reborn" Americans for a few days, sing God Bless America and wave our flags ..... for a few days, then revert back to our old ways.

December 7, 1941 was my first, I guess, event. What a rally cry that was, followed by V-E day and V-J day, with the death of FDR thrown in. One event I remember also, was General Douglas McArthur and his final address to Congress in 1951:

"I am closing my 52 years of military service. When I joined the Army, even before the turn of the century, it was the fulfillment of all of my boyish hopes and dreams. The world has turned over many times since I took the oath on the plain at West Point, and the hopes and dreams have long since vanished, but I still remember the refrain of one of the most popular barrack ballads of that day which proclaimed most proudly that "old soldiers never die; they just fade away."

And like the old soldier of that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty.

Good Bye."

I have lived through way to many such "events," they never seem to stop, we seem to be surrounded by terrorists and ..... well, what do we call them, "unbalanced" "whackos" ..... their events occur one right after the other, and often, each new one, a little worse than the last.

What next, always the question, and seemingly, always someone is available to respond.
