Sequestration furloughs have started in Washington with mixed results. TinC Article
At the Defense Department, we found a tearful Geena McCormick leaving the building with her "Furlough" slip in her hand. "I'm thinking positive, Lance Corbin from Accounting and I are going to take my new 45 foot American Coach RV and just "head out" and drive around the country, I know we are going to hit Vegas and do some surfing in California. We'll get by, somehow, it's just awful."
Harley Furston, of the EPA, commented, "Well, we've cut back hours on a lot of employees. After all the layoff notices were handed out, we realized we had 234 slips left over, and those employees were on the payroll, but didn't even work here. Hell, the only time we saw them was on payday. Some were wives of Congressmen, quite a few were relatives of House members, well, don't quote me on this, but, well, eight of them were relatives of the Director."
Other agencies have noticed an increase in production since the sequestration furlough's have started. One high ranking official's private secretary, FiFi LeJawn, commented, "We've gotten rid of a lot of people, everything runs smoother seems like, no long lines to stand in at the ladies room or the cafeteria, and, I can park my Mercedes so much closer now, it only takes me thirty minutes or so to walk from the parking lot. I love it."
At the Capital Bar, close to the Labor Department, a disgruntled employee quipped in, "Yea, I'm laid off, if I hadn't been able to save three quarters of a million from my salary and bonuses for productivity and a few other perks, I'd be hurtin right now. I still have to come in once a week to keep active in the "lottery" pool. (A twenty member pool who weekly invest $2000.00 in the Power Ball lottery).
