First things first ..As Ye sow, so shall Ye Reap ..

Much emphasis, ink, etc., is placed on motorcycle awareness, watch out for the motorcycles, May is Motorcycle Awareness Month, and, I agree, many are in accidents each year. I am not aware of anyone who intentionally targets someone on a motorcycle.

So far this year, I have had six bikers, go zipping by me, weaving in and out of traffic, one ran a red light, one did a "wheeley" going down a busy main thoroughfare, 21st Street, yet, their emphasis is on our being careful. They should set their own set of standards for "driving" on public streets, roads, and highways. A I while back, we were heading for our doctors office, located where we take a freeway to get there.

I saw one approaching my car, rapidly, passed two cars, one on his left, one on his right, crossed an intersection, yellow light, questionable, I know, he was behind me a bit, and I was concerned. He later passed me, I thought my car had stopped he went by me so fast, and sped on down the highway. And, someone is concerned about ME hitting HIM. I could not have caught him if I wanted to.

I rode a motor bike all through high school. Not as fast as a motorcycle, but similar. I always tried to be considerate, and anticipate any problems. Never had a problem in my six years of not only riding to school, but all over town.

I brother, after graduating from college, decided he wanted a motorcycle for some reason, in 1943. We had a friend who was selling an Indian, 1930 vintage, had been used by the state police, had an extended frame, would be a collectors item today. He was on his way to Fort Wayne, Indiana to see his girlfriend, future wife. He was entering Indianapolis, busy street, got wedged in between two cars, each touched his handlebars, one on either side. Nothing happened. He stopped, pushed it to a used car dealer, sold it, and took a bus the rest of the way.

Let's see some signs out there to bikers, Obey Traffic Laws, conduct yourself the same as you would if in a car, don't speed, don't weave in and out of traffic, NO exhibition driving on the highway, no "stunts" and most of all be courteous to automobile drivers. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Remember, movies are not real life, what you see on that screen .... is for entertainment.
