My wife was getting some testing done at our local hospital, related to her pacemaker, etc., and we were sitting in the waiting room in the cardiology offices. A call came our over the loud speaker system, "Code Blue in the Treadmill Office." That is exactly where we were.
A short time later an elderly man emerged from a door to that office, and sat down. Within a few minutes, someone emerged and approached him, "We were able to save her, she is fine, going to be alright." Then a few other doctors and nurses came out and reassured him that his wife was well.
I was in awe of the whole proceedings. This many, had seen his wife die, and now he was assured that she was alive and well. What a moment that must have been for him. Despair, sadness, and then reassurance and elation. My guess is that few have gone through that. Many have seen death, but few have seen death, and then life.
After a while, and a number of people from the staff talking with him, they were going to escort him up to her room. I went over and shook his hand, don't know why, it was just something I wanted to do. I don't think either one of us knew why I did it, I just felt compelled to shake the hand of a man who had just experienced what he had.
I am still in awe of that experience ........
