New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will give the keynote address at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next month, NBC News confirmed.
The high-profile job is sometimes seen as a launching pad for politicians with ambitions of higher office, but could also suggest that Christie will not be named as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s running mate, according to NBC News.
Vice Presidential nominees and keynote speakers typically speak on separate nights. Theconvention runs from Aug. 27 to 30.
