A Sad Follow Up Story

I just picked this up from the Newark Advocate. I had a blog on his retirement just last week. I intended going up there and eating last Friday, on his last day at the Aladdin, now I wish I had,

GRANVILLE — Retired Aladdin Restaurant owner Don Snelling died today, the Licking County Coroner’s office confirmed. He was 55.

Snelling was found dead this morning in an armchair at the home of a friend, said Ben Rader, who owns the downtown Granville building in which the Aladdin is located.
A spokesperson for the coroner’s office said the cause of death has not yet been determined, but was ruled as not suspicious. She said an autopsy will be performed Friday.
Snelling died just six days after he retired as the Aladdin Restaurant owner. He worked there for 45 years, taking over ownership in the mid 1990s.
Snelling, a 1973 Granville High School graduate, had continued to be the scorekeeper for the GHS boys basketball team, and manned the book at the team’s home game Monday night against Zanesville.
Among the reasons Snelling retired were his health, he said in a Sentinel story about his retirement published Dec. 30.
