The last time we ate there was on a Mother's Day, many years ago, I remember asking how many meals they had served that day, it was a staggering amount. Now it looks like a complete resort, quite an operation.
I remember meeting a salesman at the place, he sold for Heinz, and knew the Zehnder family and visited the restaurant and Frankenmuth often. I remember one comment he made, never forgotten it. He would never eat a second time at a place that served their baked potatoes wrapped in foil.
Another unique place to stay or visit when in Michigan is the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Rode a bicycle built for two around the island one time years ago, I was exhausted when we finished, had to sit and catch my breath before we could take the boat back. Then my wife told me she had not helped pedal because she was pregnant. I think my first visit to the island was in 1939, and it is still about the same as it was then. A great place to spend some time.
