LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — A judge says jurors in the third trial of a man accused of drowning his wife in their bathtub will view the bathroom where the drowning occurred.
Ryan Widmer is accused of drowning 24-year-old Sarah Widmer at their former Hamilton Township home north of Cincinnati in 2008.
The Middletown Journal reports that prosecutors argued it was unfair to show jurors the scene because the home has new owners and the bathroom has a new bathtub. The original tub was at court when jurors in Widmer's last trial viewed the scene.
The murder conviction in Widmer's first trial was thrown out because of juror misconduct. A second jury deadlocked.
Jurors won't hear the case until Wednesday to allow defense attorneys time to prepare for a witness whose identity was kept from them until recently.
This just caught my attention and I thought it was newsworthy. The jury wants to see that bathroom where the crime occurred, even though it has been remodeled and has a new tub. If the tub was shown at the first trial, where is it now? The new owners are probably enthusiastic about a jury and all traipsing through their house. Hey, it's Saturday morning, it looks really cold outside and there is not a lot to write about, so chuckle at this ........... Thank You ....
