Advertising, marketing, what a great thing it is. Been seeing all these ads and commercials for mattresses, some as much as a few thousand. Some with a memory, some with a button where you can adjust something, some firm, some soft, but, the main thing, YOU cannot sleep well unless you have one. One advertises it will resolve many of your back problems and your whole future will be brighter because of the good night's sleep you received.
I wonder what percentage of the world's population actually has a mattress. How many are sleeping on the ground and have no beds at all. There are three million in Syria just roaming around the countryside.
In the Navy I had a thin mattress that sat on a wire frame, with springs holding the wire to the frame. I slept great, of course, the movement of the ship helped. But had the same thing on the base, a thin mattress on a a wire frame.
Why, other than a "status" thing is it necessary to have an "adjustable" mattress? It has to be because of advertising, and let's not forget the thing that makes it all work ..... SALES.
How many in the world do not even have electricity to plug the mattress in?
We used to NEED a Simmons Beauty Rest .... not just Rest, Beauty Rest. Sleep good, look good.
I do some of my best "sleeping" sitting up in this chair. I have slept in the car, we have spent a number of evenings, in a tent, sleeping on a mat or in a sleeping bag.
TV + ADVERTISING = $$$$$$$$$ ......... the reason for it all.
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."-- Thomas Jefferson
"When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout." .... jbd
"When once a job you have begun, do no stop till it is done. Whether the task be great or small, do it well, or not at all." .... Anon
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
Television is one daylong commercial interrupted periodically by inept attempts to fill the airspace in between them.If you can't start a fire, perhaps your wood is wet ....
