A hamburger is a sandwich consisting of a cooked patty of ground meat usually placed inside a sliced buttered and grilled hamburger bun.
Now, I have served customers, just that. One lady, I remember, said it was the best hamburger that she had ever eaten. It did not have all the "garden stuff" on it. I generally get a plain burger and a side salad. I want to savor the flavor of that buttered grilled bun, and, if flame broiled, a bit of the seared beef flavor.
I want a tossed salad with a beef patty on the bottom, served in the middle of a bun, is how these burgers should be ordered today. Why do they load all that stuff on, they can charge more. I saw a Ranch Burger on a menu the other day. $8.95. I saw the guy that ordered it. He had to eat it with a knife and fork, actually, it was a salad with a beef patty in between the top and bottom of a bun.
I think things should be called, what they are. A pizza, is dough, with tomato sauce and cheese, baked. That is a pizza. Years ago, they were served as a bread side with an Italian dinner. So, don't call one of those things they serve today with all that stuff on it, a pizza, I don't know what to call these things they serve today.
I have seen a restaurant offer, Sweet Potato French Fries. A French Fry is a piece of potato, deep fried, has nothing to do with sweet potatoes.
Always liked it when the waitress would ask, "Do you want cheese on that hamburger?"
