I admire both Louisville and Duke for their "performances" yesterday after the "incident." To see that serious an injury, and then be able to perform, is admirable.
Most football injuries, regardless of seriousness, are not so openly viewed, and are generally under layers of padding and clothing. There was no hiding this one, it was out there for all to see, and a grisly picture it was. There is no protocol for such a situation, nothing in the "coaches manual" to go by.
I doubt that I will forget the incident, and I witnessed it on a TV set, many miles away. A teammate would have to be devastated, and I admire them all, for carrying on.
Did it determine the outcome, I think it did. Louisville played desperately for the win, they would not and could not lose the game, their fallen teammate asked them to win, they had no choice.
And Duke, not sure how they all felt. I would assume, that as the game progressed, and especially after the halftime break, just got outplayed, but they too, had to be playing with heavy hearts.
I admire both teams for carrying on as they did.......................
