I remember many years ago I worked in a plant here in town, and got to know a fellow worker pretty well. We generally ate together, took breaks together, clocked out together and walked to the parking lot. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, liked all sports, and were going to have him over to our house to watch a Superbowl, but something came up and we never did.
I left the plant, had another job, and lost contact with Bill.
One evening we were eating dinner and keeping an eye on the TV in the living room. On the evening news, they mentioned that a murder in Newark had been solved, a Bill Siddle was arrested for killing the woman.
My wife said, "Isn't that the Bill you knew?"
"Yeh, it is."
No surprise, no shock, what little I knew of him, his attitude, what we used to talk about, I wasn't surprised. I would never have suspected him of doing it, but I was not surprised that he did.
I think about that in regards to the situation in Arizona, when the entire press corp of the world is searching for "why." They interview friends, neighbors, anyone searching for that answer of "why." I don't think that there is a "why," it just happens. Everyone that suspected he might do this, please line up.
If someone out there suspected something about him, where would they have gone and who would they have told. "I think he is going to try to assassinate Gabby, kill people and wound many more. " No one would have believed that statement. They are set on getting an answer to "Why?"
I imagine that every network in the world is in Arizona. Photographers are everywhere. I don't know whether we are in a slow news cycle or what, maybe they all just want to be warm in Arizona, but we have had many similar "tragedy's," I really don't think this one is "special," each one is special in different ways.
But it gives politicians a feeding frenzy. Sarah Palin, gun control, gun clips, the Tea Party, the Political Climate in Arizona, gun permits, and on and on it goes.
If Nancy Pelosi was still the Speaker of the House this never would have happened. If Obama had not gone to Hawaii for Christmas this never would have happened, etc., etc., etc.
It was just another tragedy in a long list of tragedy's that we have had in this country, something in our system is wrong, that is where they blame lies.
