One One One One One .............. Enough Already

This from The Mad Is On In Oklahoma, Jim, first name ......

This year we will experience 4 unusual dates.... 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 .........

NOW take the last 2 digits of the year you were born plus the age you will be this year and it WILL EQUAL .... 111

Who is Holding that Hammer?

I still cannot conceive, how individuals, basically born the same, raised the same, educated the same, and then become affiliated with a group of people, could, at a time, decide that black is black or white is white, and there is NO gray. How could anyone so possibly agree or disagree with a complex issue that they really know little about, only because of an affiliation with a political party.

I don't know if that all makes sense or not. I have opinions, but I can change them, maybe because I am independent, have looked at both sides, see good and bad on both sides, so I see good and bad.

So, what, or who, has that much control over a body of men and women, to be able to make them say YES or NO, and no middle ground.

A lot of POWER, and only money has that much power. Are BOTH parties, somehow controlled by money, and where does that money come from. If that is the case, and there is one controlling entity at the top, what is their point in dividing them into two groups. Perhaps so that issues become issues.

Maybe that is what makes the world go round .......

Kasich doesn’t get the real issue with his inflated staff salaries

Today’s Akron Beacon Journal addresses Joseph’s inflated staff salaries in the Kasich Administration story from two weeks ago:

“The more acute disconnect involves the governor’s harsh words for many in the public sector, especially unions, about failing to understand the principle of sacrifice. Kasich insists they make do with less. Then, he turns around and pays his chief of staff $47,000 a year more than the Strickland chief of staff. He might want to set a better example.”

Abortion Question

Former Sen. Rick Santorum says it is surprising that the nation's first black president is willing to deny civil rights to fetuses.

Santorum, who is a potential Republican presidential challenger to President Barack Obama in 2012, linked civil rights with abortion during an interview posted Thursday with the Christian Broadcasting Network. Santorum, who lost his 2006 Senate re-election bid in Pennsylvania, is an outspoken critic of abortion rights.

Santorum notes that for decades, slavery allowed African-Americans to be treated like property. And he says fetuses are denied the right to life because they are considered property.

Santorum says he is disappointed that Obama, a former law professor, refuses to treat fetuses as humans under the Constitution.

Now You Know

The first tank was developed by the British in World War I as a solution to the trench warfare stalemate.

The first prototype of the Mark I tank was tested for the British Army on September 6, 1915.

To preserve secrecy the initial vehicles were referred to as "Water-carriers". The workers were given the impression that they were building "Water-carriers for Mesopotamia"; hence the name, Tank.

Reid and his FOOT and his MOUTH

Harry Reid has done put his foot in his mouth again -- and this time he might really wish he'd been more careful with his words.

The Senate Majority Leader called Chinese President Hu Jintao a "dictator" on Tuesday -- the same day Hu arrived on a diplomatic visit to the U.S. to discuss their at-times rocky relationship.

"I am going to go back to Washington tomorrow and meet with the president of China. He is a dictator," Reid told local TV talk show "Face to Face with Jon Ralston." "He can do a lot of things through the form of government they have."

The inflammatory remarks were made after Ralston asked if Reid thought the lame-duck tax cut deal was a good one. The Nevada senator quickly backtracked from his statement.

"Maybe I shouldn't have said dictator, but they have a different type of government than we have and that's an understatement," Reid said.

Winter Tips

Lock
De-ice your lock in seconds with hand sanitizer! Just put some hand sanitizer gel on the key & the lock & the problems solved!

Windshield
Fog-proof your windshield with shaving cream! Spray some shaving cream on the inside of your windshield & wipe if off with paper towels. Shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers.

Car doors
Prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray! Spritz cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors & rub it in with a paper towel. The cooking spray prevents water from melting into the rubber

Windows
Ice-proof your windows with vinegar! Frost on it's way? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water & spritz it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they'll be clear of icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water---preventing water from freezing!

Wipers
Squeak-proof your wipers with rubbing alcohol! Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking & squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence & clarity.

Headlights
Keep your headlights clear with car wax! Just wipe ordinary car wax on your headlights. It contains special water repellents that will prevent that messy mixture from accumulating on your lights - lasts 6 weeks.

HR-HR III - TinC News Article

I have published this before, it is a TinC Article I had on my spoof site. A few wanted it to be published again.

The Hip Replacement Hip Replacement Company of Las Vegas, Nevada recently announced that they are considering opening a new subsidiary company that would be located in Fallon, Nevada, that would offer hip replacements for those who had unsuccessful hip replacements that were not successful.

In 1940 at Johns Hopkins hospital, Dr. Austin T. Moore (1899-1963), an American surgeon, reported and performed the first metallic hip replacement surgery. The original prosthesis he designed was a proximal femoral replacement, with a large fixed head, made of the Cobalt-Chrome alloy Vitallium.

Most of these replacements have been successful, but a few have failed and required additional hip replacement surgery.

Now, we are finding that a large number of the hip replacement hip replacement surgeries have been unsuccessful for the same problems encountered with the second replacement.

The third level replacement prosthesis is in development, and will replace the replacement after more testing is performed. HRHRIII is looking for volunteers to test the new unit.

If you have had a hip replacement that was replaced, please get in touch with HRHRIII in Fallon, at 1-800-GOODHIP.

Alabama Governor Apologizes For Religious Remarks

by The Associated Press
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley said he was sorry Wednesday for his inauguration day remarks about only Christians being his brothers and sisters, and said he would work over the next four years for people of all faiths and colors.
Bentley said he didn't mean to insult anyone with comments he made from the pulpit of a church once led by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. He said he was speaking as an evangelical Christian to fellow Baptists.
"If anyone from other religions felt disenfranchised by the language, I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry if I offended anyone in any way,'' Bentley said Wednesday.
Bentley, who spoke at the church during a King event after his official inaugural address, said no one should hate anyone else because of color or religion.

Big Day for Lawyers in NYC

The FBI calls it the biggest mafia round-up in New York history. More than 100 suspected mobsters are being arrested this morning (Thursday) in connection with numerous federal investigations into New York area mob groups.

FBI agents along with NYPD and State Police officers, and US Marshals were conducting raids that began in the early morning hours. Federal charges are expected to range from gambling to racketeering to murder.

Law-enforcement officials said members and associates of all five New York mafia families - as well as New Jersey's DeCavalcante family - are among those being arrested.

The arrest operations stretch across the tri-state area with many of the suspects being processed in Brooklyn. US Attorney Loretta Lynch is expected to announce details of the federal charges later Thursday.

OH, I didn't know that ...

Did you know the saying "God willing and the Creek don't rise" was in reference to the Creek Indians and not a body of water?

It was written by Benjamin Hawkins in the late 18th century. He was a politician and Indian diplomat.

While in the south, Hawkins was requested by the President of the U.S. to return to Washington .

In his response, he was said to write, "God willing and the Creek don't rise."

Because he capitalized the word "Creek" it is deduced that he was referring to the Creek Indian tribe and not a body of water.

DEER CROSSING SIGN

I live in a semi-rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road.

The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

Bridges for Sale

US President Barack Obama's approval ratings have hit a nine-month high, probably boosted by a largely positive response to his handling of this month's shooting in Tucson, an opinion poll released on Tuesday showed.

Nearly eight out of 10 Americans rated his handling of the January 8 shooting positively, and 54 per cent approved of the job he was doing as president, a Washington Post-ABC News poll said, the highest approval rating he has had since April.

Obama gave a prime time speech at a memorial service for the victims of the Tucson shooting last week.

I am coming out of retirement and going in to real estate. I have listings on the Brooklyn Bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge and the Mackinaw Bridge, and working on some others. There must be a large number of potential buyers, people who will buy anything, people who will let me do their thinking for them, and make their decisions for them, because they are not capable of doing that. They will buy those bridges from me.

There is a tragedy in Arizona, Obama turns it into a political rally, and the people buy that. A ruler, of questionable character and intentions, comes to visit, and he is treated like royalty, and those same potential bridge buyers accept it.

We don't manufacture squat anymore, what the hell is it that Obama was talking about, "We want to sell you all kinds of stuff," the U.S, president said, drawing laughter from the packed room (they probably knew we didn't have anything to sell).

BILLIONS of cell phones have been manufactured and sold, how many were made in the USA ................. NONE. Perhaps we can collect all the illegal drugs that come in to the country, and resell them to China. That's about all we have a monoply on. OK, great idea, let's build CASINOS in China, they love to gamble. Instead of Ohio, build those four in China somewhere.

The healthcare debate is now running 50/50. I would not be surprised to see it stay as is.

Obama and his advisers are winning the race, they are outplaying the opposition. Another month and his approval rating will skyrocket. His rhetoric is soothing the Conservative beast.

New Republican slogan, "Wait till 2016." And, I would not be surprised to see new legislaation introduced to allow the president to serve an unlimited term, eight years just won't be enough. Then the Conservative Battle Cry will be ........ "Wait till ????," or, "Just wait till Obama retires."

Hu's at the White House

Hu's in the White House, What is in the Oval Office. Who is in Charge? I don't know is everywhere!!!!!

Father of Our Country Boxed Away

Remember when a symbol representing the name of Jesus Christ had to be covered so that Comrade Obama could speak at Catholic Georgetown? Something similar happened yesterday during the MLK festivities. Via Free North Carolina:

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse. Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington. This year, the NAACP constructed a "box" to conceal the Father of His Country from view so that participants would not be offended by his presence.

It would be nice to think that MLK Day is all about striving toward a colorblind society. In reality, it is political correctness day, which means it represents the opposite. If the dream were about people being judged by the content of their character, would they blot out the one person in our national history whose character was beyond reproach?

The real dream appears to be to tear down America, and replace it with a race-based society in which the "victims" always get to be on top, regardless of merit, based on the color of their skin. Progress has been made. Is anyone clueless enough to think Barack Obama would be in office if both his parents had been white?

Hu's at the White House

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao to the White House Wednesday with full honors, a red carpet and a color guard. But the two leaders wasted no time in delivering pointed messages to each other at the start of daylong meetings to address trade, security and human rights issues that have been the cause of past strain between the two powers.
In his remarks at the South Lawn arrival ceremony, Obama said each country had an enormous stake in the other's future, and he then referenced human rights.
"We also know this: history shows that societies are more harmonious, nations are more successful and the world is more just when the rights and responsibilities of all nations and all peoples are upheld — including the universal rights of every human being," Obama said.
For his part, Hu said the relationship between the two powers should be based on "mutual respect," with each country respecting the other's core interests and choices of development paths suggesting limits to how far the U.S. can push China on issues from currency to human rights.

Ex-Peace Corps Director Sargent Shriver Dies At 95

January 18, 2011

Sargent Shriver, the founding director of the Peace Corps and a former Democratic vice presidential nominee, has died at the age of 95. Shriver served in the administrations of his brother-in-law, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson.
