I have been trying to come up with something that could be used instead of a bible. There are no books that I am aware of that advocate what he is probably going to become. "Thou shalt not steal." That one goes right out the window. There are a few others that come to mind right off the bat. And, at the end, "So help me God." I doubt that God, in any way, wants to be associated with what is coming.
"Alcoholics Anonymous." Is there a "Politicians Anonymous?" Can't you just imagine such a meeting, where people get up, admit their shortcomings, and tell the truth. "Hi, I am Bill, I am a Politician, and I need help. I would like to lead an honest life and walk the straight and narrow again, I have done it so long, I cannot do it alone. I have lied, stolen money, and coveted another mans job, which I wanted. I have converted campaign funds in to my personal account."
I wonder how many, really, have attempted to live up to that "Oath" they took, AFTER .... they took office. A metamorphosis takes place as soon as the arm is lowered and the hand is taken off of the bible. The "robe" of promises, honesty, integrity is thrown off, removed, and under that robe, where once an honest, God-fearing person stood, on that pedestal, making promises, promising, promising, promising .... a new image is born, ............. an office holder, who can do no wrong.
"So help me God ......."
