A gunman shot a soldier in uniform at the National War Memorial in the Canadian capital of Ottawa Wednesday then went into Parliament, authorities said.
The gunman was shot by security forces, authorities said, and Canadian television reported that a man believed to be the gunman was seen being removed from the building by a gurney.
Armed police surrounded the building and escorted some lawmakers and reporters to safety. The shootings come two days after a man ran down two Canadian soldiers in his car in Montreal in what authorities called an apparent terrorist attack. One soldier died, and the other was injured.
The suspect was shot by police and later died.
