I walked Caleb this morning, and, it is so quiet out, there was not a noise of any kind .... it was almost "loud" it was so quiet. It is not easy to find true, real ..... quiet ..... anymore, too many noises dominate the air. I can't give you a "dew" report, since I acquired this cough, I don't do barefooted anymore. I think the coughing has gone, but know I don't want to get it back.
Sunday morning has its own set of memories with it. Quiet, somber, reflective, sad in a way, the last day of the weekend. Used to have a "back to work soon" cloud hanging over it. As a kid, Sunday afternoon generally meant "nap time" around the old Dooley house on Brown Street. My brother wood doze off, then Dad, and occasionally Mom, that was after church, generally a big meal, somewhere, then the afternoon "quiet" would set in. I was already to do .... something .... but those around me were snoring.
Sunday in Nevada, a little different, it was just another day in the casinos. Generally crowded, would thin out when many headed back to California, after a fun weekend in Reno. I did a few day ship Sundays, graveyard was always the same, but the day shift was a bit different. I think that due to my "upbringing" Sunday was a day to reflect, not gamble. I remember some who would go to church, then come to the clubs for Sunday Dinner, wager a bit, and then head home. It was a Sunday that a family had eaten in The Primm dining room, and, in those days we used silver dollars, the lady stopped by our crap table, we showed her where to put her dollar, she did, threw the dice. I forget the exact number, now, but she threw, I think, 23 passes. Her "hand" attracted a large crowd of "Winner, winner, winner, winner," etc.Thousands were bet on her hand, large piles of money all over the table .... mostly on the "DON"T" ... she can't do it again, but she did and kept doing it. The table ended up winning quite a bit, oh, the shooter, I think by the time all was said and done, she walked out with $20 or so, happy as could be.
Shootings in New York, riots in Missouri, more looting. Why don't the people who live in that community unite and say enough is enough, no more "Back to School Looting." And, they apparently do not want to hear any facts of what might have transpired. It gets Sharpton back in the news. Some come out of the woodwork during these incidents.
an age old tactic, is that happening now? We are being divided, no doubt about that, who will step in and conquer?
