barack obama
FDR and obama have both served as the president of the United States, many years apart, but they have both held the same position. Times were different, no doubt about that, but certain things about the position have remained the same.
The first blatant difference, in print, now, most often, the title, president, is no longer capitalized, FDR was the President, obama is the president. That quiet statement says something right there.
I think that yesterday, when a General, who lost his life serving his country, was buried, that the president of the United States could not be bothered attending, he was playing golf. Whatever fragments of respect might have been there, dissipated. There are just some things that one "has to do." I used to have to get ready on Sunday morning and go to church with Mom and Dad. I had to go to school. We went to Gieringers every Christmas Eve, we put up the Christmas Tree on Mom's birthday, December 18. As Commander in Chief, when a leader falls, you attend his funeral, if at all possible. It is just something you have to do.
The, and anymore, I say this with tongue in chief, leader of the free world chose golf over his duty. Biden, I can understand, he has no idea what is going on in this world, "Wha, who, they gonna what, where, who was the guy again, a what a genral, ah ...... I aint gonna go, ifn he aint gonna go I aint't gonna go either."
Leadership, qualities we admire and respect. Who do we actually respect in this day and age? "I'm thinking, give me a minute, gonna need more time." No politician, in this country, comes to mind when I hear the word, respect. The "bar" has been lowered, lowered, well, it is lying on the ground.
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."-- Thomas Jefferson
"When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout." .... jbd
"When once a job you have begun, do no stop till it is done. Whether the task be great or small, do it well, or not at all." .... Anon
