I posted one last evening about Tony Stewart that received many hits. It came from a post I saw, and some seemed to question the truthfulness of the post. It concerned Stewart retiring from racing.
How could anyone possibly get behind the wheel of a vehicle, in this case a race car, that ... and there are questions in my mind ... that hit and killed a promising young driver. Do you just wipe the blood off and, Stewart must have an image in his head, perhaps the moment of impact, or some image, and the last image, of a young man. That alone would be tough to live with, let alone, drive the car, and race.
In my mind, Stewart had an "intention" .... a momentary one, to let the kid know who the "top dog" was on the track. Others swerved, I am not sure whether Stewart could have, or not. He was the most talented driver on the track.
Many drivers have been killed while racing. I have seen a few at the old speedway in Dayton, Ohio, in the days of open wheel and no roll bars. It was almost a hobby then, not a vocation, not the BIG business it is today.
I doubt that there will be any Criminal Charges made, Perry would make Burger lose another one. I do think though that Civil Charges may be brought by his family, or threatened, and an immediate response will be forthcoming a LARGE settlement, out of court. Too may "deep pockets" involved in sponsorship's, etc., the damage could hurt the sport, and TV won't allow that ... remember, TV RULES.
