Big Ten coaches upset with Urban Meyer's recruiting tactics
Erick Smith
I remember his reputation in Florida, he is up to his old tricks .... "old ways die hard"
OSU may have gone from the "frying pan into the fire" .... Woody, Bo, and Joe, they, and their ethics, are gone ....................
The dust has settled on Urban Meyer's first recruiting class at Ohio State, and there are some hard feelings from some Big Ten coaches.
One issue is Meyer's strategy of poaching commitments from other conference schools.
In the two months after being hired by the Buckeyes, Meyer managed to flip several players, including defensive Se'Von Pittman from Michigan State and offensive lineman Kyle Dodson from Wisconsin.
Spartans coach Mark Dantonio, a Zanesville native and former Ohio State assistant, wasn't pleased.
"They've got a new coach, and it's different," Dantonio told The Detroit News. "I would say it's pretty unethical, in the end."
Meyer also took advantage of Penn State's disarray following the firing of coach Joe Paterno which led to the Buckeyes grabbing All-USA defensive lineman Tommy Schutt and linebacker Camren Williams from the Nittany Lions.
Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema, like Dantonio, was unhappy about the developments and was proactive about addressing his concerns about Meyer.
"There are a few things that happened early on that I made people aware of that I didn't want to see in this league, that I had seen take place in other leagues," Bielema told CBS Chicago. "Other recruiting tactics, other recruiting practices that are illegal.
"I was very up front and was very pointed to the fact, actually reached out to coach Meyer and shared my thoughts and concerns with him. The situation got rectified."
He later added that he was happy the Big Ten coaches held itself to a different standard.
"Our league is based on certain values that we're going to hold to be true and if you don't hold those to be true, you are going to be held accountable."

American Atheists Sue Over World Trade Center Cross
By RESHMA KIRPALANI
An atheist group is suing over the inclusion of cross-shaped steel beams, dubbed the "World Trade Center Cross," in the exhibit at the National September 11th Memorial and Museum.Jane Everhart, who is part of the atheist's suit, derided the cross as nothing more than "ugly piece of wreckage" that "does not represent anything … but horror and death."
Last weekend the 17-foot cross, discovered in the rubble of 9/11, was given a "ceremonial blessing" by the Rev. Brian Jordan, removed from it's temporary post near St. Peter's Church and lowered 70 feet into its permanent home inside the museum.
But a group identified as American Atheists filed a lawsuit today claiming the inclusion of the cross-shaped steel beams promotes Christianity over all other religions on public property and diminishes the civil rights of non-Christians.
"The Christian community found a piece of rubble that looked like an icon and they deified it. But really 9/11 had nothing to do with Christianity," said American Atheists president Dave Silverman. "They want a monopoly and we don't want that to happen."
"It just so happens that the WTC was made out of T-joints and they found a T-joint," Silverman said. "They put it in the church, kept in the church for years, prayed over it, blessed it. You don't get to do that just in the coincidence that your icon looks like a T-joint."

Tips on pumping gas
This was an earlier post, but I have been asked to post it again.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon.
In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3)stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
Unlike service stations, every truck that is loaded is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.
Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Another Monday Thought
Ron Paul is NOT Electable. I've heard that said many times and heard it even more often on TV. Who started that and why? What a great strategy, just say that he is not electable and go on your way.
But then, I got to wondering who started that and why, it's a statement that is easy to overlook. Just a little "off hand" statement that doesn't get a second thought, and "closes the door" for further investigating. Then I asked myself, Why? I read this article .
"Contrary to the false propaganda proclaiming that Dr. Ron Paul is “not electable”, his numbers are rising, his support growing and he stands an excellent chance of winning both the GOP nomination and the 2012 presidential race.
Dr. Paul’s opponents are desperate to stop Americans from listening to, and subsequently electing Ron Paul. Opponents of liberty falsely present Ron Paul as “unelectable” to the American people, attempting to plant subconscious seeds doubt of “don’t listen to him, don’t vote for him in the primaries or caucuses because he’ll never win”. This strategy is failing as more Americans hear Dr. Paul speak, leading them to contribute to his campaign and vote for him. The American public understands Dr. Paul’s common sense approach and trusts him. The other candidates are clearly in the race to serve their egos and personal agendas. The “Dr. Paul is not electable” rumors are deliberately created and spread solely as a calculated attempt to confuse honest, hard-working American with falsehoods such as “Ron Paul is crazy, anti-women, anti-Israel and anti-blacks. He’s isolationist, he’ll wreck the country, he’s anti-government”. These are simple “control the masses” fear tactics to try and stop Americans from actually listening to Dr. Paul, hearing his logical and intelligent plan and deciding for themselves."
Just remember who told you he could not get elected and more importantly, WHY?
Listen to the man and then judge, don't eliminate him as a candidate. Dewey couldn't lose. Truman couldn't win, Carter couldn't win, Nixon ........... will just leave it there . My Dad was an OBGYN, he would have made a great President.

Update
Letter to the Editor
From: Justin O. Smith
Update on the Arcade Project
My dreams have changed. I have received so much positive response concerning the opening of my brothel in the Arcade that I no longer want to open my truck garage on the South side of the Square. I have been approached by the Pennnnn Corporation who inquired about leasing the street level portion of the building to open a casino, and moving the brothel into the basement.
They indicated that the possibility exists that they have located a Hopewell Indian survivor, living under a bridge in Toboso. Her Indian name is Owaahtanah and according to her, she was originally from Dresden. She stated that her great, great grandfather, Chief Mawahmantoso, translated means 'basket weaver" had relocated his tribe to the Dresden area "many moons" ago. They survived by making baskets and selling them to the local population.
She related too, that the Dresden Vocational School had persuaded her father, The Chief, to teach classes at the school on Basket Weaving. Rumor has it that one of his early students was named Longaberger.
When the Pennnnn Corporation was contacted regarding a gaming license for the proposed "Casino in the Arcade in the Mustang Building," their representative commented, "No problem, we will get an Indian Casino License, we found one living in Toboso who showed ownership papers of the entire downtown area." She also told us, "I have a country club golf course too, with a pool and tennis courts."
She further stated, "Eef awl of theese works out, Little Running Wolf Siam and I weel be able to get married, I am veery excited."
Construction on the new complex will start as soon as building permits are acquired.

Are we great, or what?
EZ Smoker and Bottled Water, two great inventions.
Bottled water, who first thought of that. Can you imagine him telling his wife, years ago, "Honey, I'm going to start selling water in bottles."
"Yeah, right!"
"No, seriously, I'm going to sell water in plastic bottles, I think it will be BIG."
"Yeah, right!"
"Hey, Honey, my water is going to sell for more than a Coke."
"Yeah, right, that sure makes sense."
The rest is history, I think I heard that if they lined up those water bottles, end to end, they would go around the earth six times, or something like that.
I think, and this is my opinion only, that they put something in the water, diabolical, something in the water to make people want to get tattoos. I know that sounds far fetched, but think about it. Before people started drinking bottled water, few to no tats, now, many of the water bottles are being carried by tattooed arms. And, I think the new TV thing, where you either had to buy a "box" or get a new TV, Hi-def, or something like that. I think that had something to do with tats, too. Something had to make everyone go nuts and get tats. "Hi Gramma, show me your tats."
We used to listen to the radio, AM. Then came FM, then HiFi, then stereo, TV, and then color TV. No tats during all that time, but when people started drinking bottled water, Hi-def TV, tats became the rage.
EZ Smoker is something else. A cigarette shaped thing that produces smoke. I quit smoking many years ago, so I can't say, but I just can't imagine, well, smoking that thing that has no odor to it, and produces, well, I don't know what it produces, but it looks like smoke. My guess is it is plastic, heat, batteries, it has to cause something. Time will tell.
I can imagine a guy, going into a nite club, sitting at the bar, ordering a Martini, pulling out his EZ, blowing out something, whatever it is, and some BIG bouncer comes over, tells him to put it out, and he has to try to explain to this "hulk" what it is he is doing.
"The sign says, "NO SMOKING."
"But this is my EZ Smoker."
"What is that coming out of your mouth?"
"EZ Smoke, or steam, or something, THIS is NOT a cigarette."
"Ouch, I didn't think you could put it there."

Lord,
hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need.
I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.

Call ...........
"If you, or your loved one, has suffered due to taking BBBBBB, or even suffered death, call this number now. You may even be entitled to compensation."
This has to be hard to do if you have died.

I wonder why?
I was shopping at Walmart on Wednesday, and, like I often do, started counting items that were out of place. In other words, items that had been put in a cart, someone later decided they did not want the item, and just lay it on a shelf or wherever they happened to be.
I counted 87 by the time we got to the checkout line.
I shop at other stores, but none of them have merchandise lying around like Walmart.
I know that often kids pick up items, put them in the cart, later Mom notices them and takes them out. Easy way, just set them at a nearby counter. Probably the same people who make their kids put things back, "where they belong," but that doesn't apply at Walmart for some reason.
Walmart used to have one person who walked all around the store picking these items up, and putting them back where they belong. I don't think they do that anymore.
Why just at Walmart? Maybe it is that "carriage trade" clientele they get.
I have seen parents take something away from their child, and just see it down wherever they happen to be. I am sure if they were at home they would make their child put something where it belonged, rather than just set it anywhere. Why do they feel free to do it at the store?
