Happy Birthday, Jesus ................
Tonight, we celebrate His birthday, the birth of Jesus Christ. Regardless of your beliefs, tonight will be a "quiet" night, there will be a stillness in the air, like no other night. Things that happen other nights, will not happen tonight. It will be a Silent Night, a Holy Night.
Wars have stopped on this night, fighting has stopped, enemies have shaken hands and even exchanged small gifts. I think even "non believers" may believe in something on this night. There is "magic" in the air.
I always look to the heavens on this night, the eve of the birth of Christ.
May the Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you tonight, especially, and always. Remember to take a moment to wish Him, a Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Bernie
There are many "highlights" in our lives. I can reflect and come up with so many. I think, though that my accomplishments and highlights in my life, pale, and we take much pride in our children and their accomplishments. Their accomplishments are a reflection of how well we have done as parents, and we take greater pride in those.
I have always used as a guideline in my life, a reference to my "pond" .... whether it was placid, or with ripples or in some cases, waves. I have even had some instances where the pond was dry, no water at all.
Presently, my pond is very calm, few to no, ripples. Our power is back on after a few day absence, my wife's health seems to be improving, I am feeling pretty well, so life is good.
One of the contributing factors to my placid pond, can be attributed to my son, Brad, an his decision a few years ago, to marry Bernie Colon, now, proudly, Bernie Dooley. We had not met her prior to the wedding, but upon meeting her, we felt we had known her forever. She was never a stranger to us, and another piece of life's puzzle fell in to place, Brad was happily married.
Today is Bernie's birthday, July 5, and we wish her nothing but the best. In some respects, she was the last piece of my life's puzzle, to be placed in to the puzzle. Today, my pond has no ripples.
Happy Birthday Bernie .................

Malware may knock thousands off Internet on 7/9/2012
WASHINGTON—For computer users, a few mouse clicks could mean the difference between staying online and losing Internet connections this summer.
Unknown to most of them, their problem began when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of infected computers around the world. In a highly unusual response, the FBI set up a safety net months ago using government computers to prevent Internet disruptions for those infected users. But that system is to be shut down.
The FBI is encouraging users to visit a website run by its security partner, CHECK HERE that will inform them whether they're infected and explain how to fix the problem. After July 9, infected users won't be able to connect to the Internet.
Most victims don't even know their computers have been infected, although the malicious software probably has slowed their web surfing and disabled their antivirus software, making their machines more vulnerable to other problems.
Last November, the FBI and other authorities were preparing to take down a hacker ring that had been running an Internet ad scam on a massive network of infected computers.

No problem, mate..........
Longevity, living to be 100. In my early days this seemed like an impossibility. When you are young, seems like an eternity between Christmas's, an end to a school day dragged on. I guess we got an inkling of things to come when it came to Summer. In comparison to the school year, Summers moved along pretty fast.
But wait till you make it to seventy or seventy-five, days only have twelve hours. Weekends roll around in no time at all, weeks fly by, before you know it, the month is over.
My 80th birthday seemed a long way off, a few months ago. It is the end of September. A few months back, arrangements were being made for all my East coast children to fly back for a four day celebration at the end of August. This was necessitated by school and business commitments, so we were celebrating a month early. When the reservations were made, it seemed like a long way off. In a week or so, it will be "next month."
It will be a very "special" occasion. Due to a divorce, and people moving, other circumstances, this will be the first time I have had all my "kids" together at one time, took almost 80 years to do it. So, I am finally going to have Debra, Dean, Melissa and Brad, and their families, children, grand children, great grandchild, and one on the way, all together, at one time. How great is that?
If time keeps speeding by like it is now, longevity is looking good. The first 80 look pretty good, some of the rest may just zip by.

More about Melissa
My Daughter, Melissa Shannon Dooley - Dunlap, loves animals, has all of her life. She once nursed a baby Opossum whose Mother had apparently been killed, back to health. Even had it trained to go in a litter box. She loves to fish, catch and release. She raised abandoned baby rabbits to health. She had dogs, cats, has had birds, alligators and snakes and a Iguana that used to spend a lot of time on her curtain rod. This photograph, I love, there had been a house fire, this kitten was overcome with smoke, Melissa and the fireman did CPR, or something, and brought the cat back. That is so much Melissa, helping animals.
If she sees an abandoned, hurt or homeless animal by the side of the road, she stops and picks it up. Occasionally, she will stop by, "Oh, hi Dad, love you, ah, could you watch this dog for a few days, till I find it a home?"
She is trying to get a business started, Pampered Pets, wash and groom place for dogs and cats. If you live in this area, or know someone who does, mention that to them. Or, on this site, there is an ad for her.
Incidentally, if you had not read one of my posts, today is her birthday, an email to her would be nice, from wherever you are in the world.
Thanks ..................

Dr. Martin Luther King
The only time I remember running into being treated like I imagine Dr. King was all of his life, and I am not sure the town, but the time frame was in the 40's, my Mother and Father and I were on a vacation or a trip of some kind, we had stopped at a hotel, and they wouldn't let my Dad register because they thought he looked Jewish. Now he was Irish on all sides, but he had black hair and a black mustache, and that was enough for them to say "NO."
I still remember that feeling when we were told we could not stay there, and I was pretty young at the time, but the incident has never left me, and that feeling of, well I can't explain it, being lost, no, you can't stay here, it was a strange feeling, and one that he had experienced all of his life, one he felt every day.
If you have lived that way all of your life, what quality did he possess, that made him realize that "this is not right." Others had to feel that way, why was he the one to finally speak out? He recognized injustice and spoke against it, and spoke the loudest. It cost him his life, that is why he is honored on this day.
I was in Reno, Nevada, at the Primmadonna, the morning we "opened the doors" to blacks. Prior to that morning they were not allowed in the clubs. A white woman came in and played 21, then her husband came in to joiin her, he was black, "situation." Ernie made phone calls, and I imagine phone lines were buzzing all over the state, then Ernie called and said, "Open the doors."
I got my first demerits at The Citadel, for calling a black woman, "Mam," that was in 1950.
Times have changed, and Dr. King was one of the leaders who brought the change about.

YES, tomorrow is my Birthday .............
To ALL of you who have asked, YES, tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY, I will be 77.
Today, I got ONE card from dear friends in Florida, Pat and Jimmie. NOTHING from UPS or FEDEX or anyone else.
I have ONE shot of gin left in the bottle we bought a year ago, and we had some leftover DIP from a demo my wife did last weekend at Kroger's, so I am dipping and drinking that now, just to try to bolster up my spirits a bit. That will probably be our supper tonight. Chips and Dip.
With Obama at the helm, we are optimistic about the future, and from what I have read we really don't have to worry about our future. It will end, one way or another.
Right now, with all that is going on in this world, like Obama, and the rest of the country, we too, are concerned about where the Olympics will be. I really feel, that if Chicago gets the Olympics, it will settle all of the problems in the world. Plus, the voter registration records for Cook County would swell.
What a venue that would be for Obama, to sit on his throne, at the opening ceremony, with the whole world watching, and all the athletes parading by him, saluting, shouting, cheering. As he enters the stadium they could be playing and singing ..... "The King Is Coming" ... what a thrilling entrance that would be.
I am only writing all of this to let you all know, rather than writing individual EMails.
When I turned 70, and had NO money, other than SS and some we scraped together doing DEMOS at WalMart and Kroger's, and my affiliate website, which has made me $12.00 this year, it seems like my children and friends, forgot about me.
I put up websites, advertised on FACEBOOK and other means, but, still nothing happened. Perhaps tomorrow ...... there is always .............. tomorrow.
Tonight, the eve of my 77th birthday, the night of the first frost of the Fall in Central Ohio, seems like that always happens on my Birthday, will be the start of a new year for me.
Thanks, Pat and Jim for the card....

OK, I am old, and I just woke up .......
I got an Email today, from Jim Madison, in Oklahoma. Who is Jim Madison, you say? Well, the Madison family is well known in Newark, Ohio. I knew his Dad, his Mom and his sisters.
I first met Jim, back in the late 60's, when I had the Draft House, not sure what happened, but he attached himself to the place, and to my family, and has been there ever since. He is like a son, to Marilyn and I, and a brother to Melissa and Brad.
We lost him for a number of years, he was doing a "walkabout," as Dundee would say, and then, we found him again in Oklahoma, and have kept in touch via Email, since then.
Well, I got an email from him this morning, and he mentioned that September 30, which is my birthday, is approaching. I immediately thought to myself, "A little early, but nice."
I decided to reply to his Email, but before doing so, moved my mouse pointer down to the lower right on my computer, to see what the date actually was. I was shocked to learn that today, was September 23, 2009. In the deep recesses of my mind, I had my birthday as coming up NEXT month. What we see and know, does not always register with the conscious mind. In retirement, day and date don't hold a lot of meaning, just days, so I don't forget to watch certain games on TV.
I have been known to put up a website, imploring people to send birthday cards, gifts, money for my birthday. Even put my Pay Pal address to make it easy to send money. It has always been futile, but good for laughs in the family. In my mind, I have been thinking about doing that, soon. But, now, I find out, it is only a week away and I won't have time to get it done and known to all, as I have in the past.
One really good thing came out of all of this. I thought I was already 77, but all of this discussion made me aware of the fact that I am only 76, and will be 77, not next month, as I thought, but next week. This is worse than setting the clock back or up and hour, this is years and months.
The bad news, for the family here, they weren't going to do anything next week, let it slide a month, and then let me know it was November, and let the whole thing slide by till next year.
Jim, in answer to your question, my address is 1002 Village Green Court, Newark, OH, 43055. My Pay Pal account is dooleysdiner@yahoo.com. I hope that answers all your questions ... Jim, thanks for the birthday wishes.
