Here's what to watch for at the London Olympics Today

1. OPENING CEREMONY: A celebration of British culture, with a touch of Shakespeare, pop music, James Bond — and even some farm animals. A huge worldwide audience will tune in for the extravaganza, which starts at 4 p.m. ET.

2. WHO WILL LIGHT THE TORCH? Bookmakers are now convinced it will be Sir Roger Bannister, the first man to break the four-minute mile. But is there another mystery contender?

3. WEATHER: Will the famous English rain blight the opening ceremony? It's been hot and sunny all week in the British capital — but a little wet this morning.

4. REFEREE DIES: A Turkish boxing referee has been found dead in his London hotel room. It appears he suffered a heart attack. Autopsy results expected later Friday.

5. ROMNEY FALLOUT: What will Londoners make of Mitt Romney's implication that the city isn't ready for the games? Will it draw them together?

Not pressured by being flag bearer’ – Sharapova

Russian tennis queen Maria Sharapova says she couldn’t believe her luck for three days after being selected as the country’s flag bearer at the opening of the London Olympics. "I got a message asking me to become flag bearer of the team after a third round match at Roland Garros," Sharapova told Sovetsky Sport newspaper.

“My joy was boundless. I showed the SMS from Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpischev to everybody and asked: ‘Am I getting this right, guys?’ For three days I couldn’t believe that it wasn’t a dream.”

Sharapova is sure that participation in the opening ceremony won’t deprive her of the strength she might need in the battle for the Olympic gold.

"I won’t be carrying it with one hand," she explained. "As far as I know, there’ll be a special corset on the body which helps keep the flag in the right position. So it won’t be a problem."

The 25-year-old will become the first female flag bearer in modern Russian history and also the first tennis player to be given the honor.

Black worker awarded $25 million in racial lawsuit

By Jason Sickles
A black steelworker has been awarded $25 million in damages after a federal jury ruled his former company didn't do enough to stop years of racial slurs and taunting by his co-workers.

According to the Buffalo News, Elijah Turley testified during the trial that colleagues at the Buffalo-area plant called him "boy" and left a stuffed monkey with a noose around its neck on his car's driver's side mirror. He also recalled seeing "KKK" and "King Kong" scrawled on the factory's walls.

"It's absolutely shocking that a case like this is in court in 2012," Ryan J. Mills, Turley's lawyer, said in closing arguments. "It should be viewed as atrocious and intolerable in a civilized society."

Lawyers for ArcelorMittal countered that company officials suspended Turley's co-workers and took other steps to stop the harassment. The newspaper reported they also suggested that a lot of what Turley endured was "trash-talking" that's common on factory floors.

But the jury unanimously decided that the company and some of its executives were liable.

"This case is about the breakdown of a man," Mills told the jury. "He wanted to be treated equally, treated equally in a culture that hadn't changed since the '50s."

It is not known if the company will appeal the ruling, the Buffalo News reported.

Woman of the Year Nomination

I am nominating my wife, Marilyn Dooley, for Woman of the Year.

Along with working, raising a family, taking care of a household, years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After she was diagnosed, her employer, at that time, made strides to terminate her, to save the added insurance cost. So she faced the future with that hanging over her head.

Went through chemo, hair loss, wigs, all of that. And, was a participant in a "trial" program of some kind. Her group was given a drug and don't hold me to the spelling ... Kumodin or Cumodin .... anyway, many in her group, and of course Marilyn, developed Congestive Heart Failure as a result of the medicine.

The Congestive Heart caused problems, which were controlled my her Pacemaker/Defibrillator, which led to the episode Tuesday, of having in SHOCK her, FORTY times that day. Each shock went with a piercing, horrible, SCREAM.

Now, she has had a surgery to "fix" her Pacemaker problem, but our lives will never be the same. Almost like having a gun pointed at our heads, never knowing when it might go off.

We are married almost fifty years, she has delivered three great kids, who in turn have produced both children and great grandchildren.

ALL that she has gone through is deserving of some recognition, she has gone through a lot. I was going to give out her phone number at the hospital, but thought that might get a bit too busy ....

Her address is    marilyndooley@yahoo.com

When your time permits, drop her a line ..... thanks

PS: The word I had trouble spelling was NOT the cause of her Congestive Heart Failure, it was another drug. When she had  dizzy spells or something else, that is when she went on that drug. I still get corrected all the time by her, even when she is in the hospital. NOW, after all this time, they are recommending a special diet for her, probably something she should have been on all along. Ain't modern medicine grand??????

Amazing story and photograph ..........

I received this recently. Most are probably aware of it, I obviously, was not. The story is remarkable, the photograph is even more astounding................

A picture began circulating in November. It should be 'The Picture of the Year,' or perhaps, 'Picture of the Decade.' It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the US paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by a surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrical nurse in Atlanta ... She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt Univ Med Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity The editors titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope.' The text explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr.Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.'

Little Samuel's mother said they 'wept for days' when they saw the picture. She said, 'The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person. Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.

Now see the actual picture, and it is awesome....incredible....and hey, pass this blog on. The world needs to see this one!

Your razor and Olive Oil

I have had a few requests to repeat this suggestion. Why people don't do this I cannot understand. I have been doing this since I started shaving, I had seen my Dad do it since I was old enough to stand by the old bathroom sink on 319 South Brown Street in Dayton, Ohio. As many know, my Dad was a Doctor, and in those days all Doctors offices had a sterilizer unit somewhere. They also had white utensils, with lids, where they placed the items in to be sterilized. Well, Dad used one of these to store his straight razor in, and, in that white container (which I am looking at right now, the lid has gotten misplaced, but we have the bottom) he regularly added Olive Oil, and after shaving, his razor would be thoroughly washed, shaken dry, and placed in the Olive Oil.

Why? What is the enemy of metal, air, right, so after he stropped the razor to get it nice and sharp, it was protected from the air by the Olive Oil.

I have a coffee cup in the bathroom with Olive Oil in it, and I get probably three months use from an inexpensive 3-blade throw away razor. I buy 1-3-pack a year. Make sure you wash the razor good, and shake it dry before putting it in the oil. Cooking oil works also.

Make your razors last so much longer, put them in Olive Oil, you will be amazed how much longer they stay sharp.

CHARISMA - That's all it takes

In a reflective mood this Monday Memorial Decoration Day morning. Beautiful day in Ohio, sitting outside on our porch, visiting with a few Robins and a couple of Doves that occasionally stop by. One Robin keeps  taking worms under my car, hope she is not building a nest under my car.

For some reason I reflected back to an Oprah show I saw a few years ago. Her guest was a rising young politician and his wife. He spoke, I listened, he was impressive, as was his wife. I told my wife, "That is the next president of the United States."

What had he said or done that made me feel that way. Easy, he had ONE thing going for him that equalled and surpassed all other considerations. He had CHARISMA.

I am still impressed with his CHARISMA. All other logical thoughts and reasoning's have been veiled in me, because of his CHARISMA.

I am of the opinion that he is nothing more than an image, a charismatic image, with no real substance. We see him often, but I don't think we really see him, we see his image, we see his CHARISMA. I think that is all that he is.

I have personally met two people with CHARISMA. Glenn Turner of Koscot fame, and L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Dianetics and Scientology. Obama could have spearheaded either of the two organizations. I attended one of Turners appearances, and after listening to him, if asked, would have followed him anywhere. Same with Hubbard, scary. Their presence was almost hypnotic.

That has been Obama's contribution, his personality and his CHARISMA. What else has he done, God only knows, I am afraid  it is monumental, and we may not be aware of it until it is too late. Is  he good? You bet, he is the president and we are not completely sure if he is even qualified to do so, and most, don't care. Is he good, or what? He can attribute his success to one quality, CHARISMA, and someone, something controlling the strings on the puppet. Oh, the above foto is Hubbard in his younger days.

Obama Physician is Speaking Out

In the sensational new best-seller by Edward Klein — Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House — Obama's doctor gives a powerful and penetrating report about Obama.

The interview, one of 200 conducted by Klein, including one with Obama's former pastor Jeremiah Wright, has sent shock waves through the liberal establishment.

Despite a blizzard of attacks, Klein's Amateur is debuting at the number 1 spot on the New York Times list this week.

According to Human Events, Obama’s longtime physician reveals the lack of humanity in Obama’s character and carelessness with which he enacted the entirely politicized health insurance reform, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often called Obamacare.

His own doctor said Obama doesn't have the character to be president, noting, “I think there is too much of the University of Chicago in him. By which I mean he’s academic, lacks passion and feeling, and doesn’t have the sense of humanity that I expected.”

There's much more in Klein's Amateur — make sure you get a copy.

Brad Dooley has a Birthday - 21 May 2012

Who, you ask, is Brad Dooley?

Well, he is my Son, actually, Joseph Bradford Dooley, II. At times, I wish I had done more for him, but when I look at him today, and primarily what he has done and become, I could not be prouder. I remember taking him fishing, playing for the old Holton Trotters, a Little League Baseball Team, he saw KISS, went to Michigan, probably more times than he wanted, went to Cheyenne during Rodeo Days, whatever we did, must have been right.

He was the cause of one of the most memorable days in my life, the day that Navy recruiter drove up to our house on Montgomery Road, early one morning, and in a split second, took him away. I remember my wife and I just looked at each other, our son was suddenly gone. I will never forget the emotions of that morning.

Perhaps the "highest" of the "highs," was his wedding, a few years ago, at The Would, in Highland, New York. One of the owners there is his sister, Debra, and it was a "highlight reel" wedding, met our whole new wonderful family. We are very proud of our son, and his brothers and sisters, Debra, Dean, Melissa and of course, the birthday boy, Brad.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ..... Joseph Bradford Dooley II, Brad.

Obama Divorce Story

Book claims to shed light on Obama's marriage

By Amanda Crum

A new book about the life of President Obama could reveal some juicy tidbits about his marriage, but his camp is firmly denying them.

Edward Klein’s “The Amateur: Barack Obama In The Whitehouse” claims that Obama and wife Michelle came very close to divorce in 2000 after he went against her advice regarding a run for a seat in the Chicago House Of Representatives. According to Klein, the primary–in which he lost to Congressman Bobby Rush–left the family in debt and Michelle was not happy that her husband disregarded her opinion on how things should have been handled.

“Michelle actually had divorce papers drawn up,” Klein wrote, quoting one of Mrs. Obama’s friends.

..High School Students Crowned America's First Lesbian Homecoming Couple

By OLIVIA KATRANDJIAN
ABC News – Sun, Oct 30, 2011
Two California high school students became one of the first lesbian couples crowned homecoming king and queen in the nation this weekend.

Rebeca Arellano, a senior at Patrick Henry High School, was made the school's first female homecoming king when her name was announced Friday at a pep rally.

"They were chanting my name and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had," said Arellano.

Arellano's girlfriend, Haileigh Adams, who also attends Patrick Henry High School, was made homecoming queen at Saturday night's dance.

"I was happier than when I won, my little Haileigh has just been announced Homecoming queen and I couldn't feel happier! Thanks to every single one of you! You guys made this happen and we are all part of something huge. I can't fully express how grateful I am. I am in completely shocked that this happen. My girl looks absolutely flawless," wrote Arellano on Facebook Saturday night.

The two girls told ABC News that they're thankful for the abundance of support they've received from family, friends, and students and staff at the school.

Arellano said one of her teachers told her, "Today school is a bit better because of you girls."

Arellano's Facebook wall is covered with congratulatory notes from her friends.

"Thank you all for allowing this change to happen," Arellano posted on Facebook.

WORD FOR THE DAY - Ineptocracy

Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

WOOOOOOOPS!

These contractors are installing the steel pillars in concrete to stop vehicles from parking on the pavement outside a Sports Bar downtown.
They are now in the process of cleaning up at the end of the day and anxious to go home.

How long do you think it will be
before they realize where they parked?

AND HE WANTS TO BE RE-ELECTED!

I am posting this information because it is something I think all voters should SERIOUSLY read and consider. I think many voters are living under a "veil" and ignore these incidents, and overlook them. The expression, "like water off a ducks back," comes to mind. The below are ALL incidents that happened ................ think about it!

An old West Virginia Hillbilly saying: “You cannot clear the water in the pond, until you get the pigs out of the creek.”

SOME OF YOU MAY APPRECIATE THIS AND SOME OF YOU MAY NOT

If any other of our presidents had doubled the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would you think that he is just an Ignorant Hot Head?

If any other of our presidents joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder whose side he was on?

If any other of our presidents had pronounced the Marine Corps Like Marine Corpse, would you think him an idiot?

If any other of our presidents had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records of any industry because one foreign company had an accident, would you have agreed?

If any other of our presidents had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87,000 American workers unemployed would you support him?

If any other of our presidents had been the first president to need a Teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If any other of our presidents had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take his First Lady to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had reduced your retirement plan holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought it a proud moment for America?!

And then

Obama returns the Churchill Bust to England: British Press sees snub.

If any other of our presidents had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If any other of our presidents had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents had stated that there were 57 states in the United States, wouldn't you have had second thoughts about his capabilities?

If any other of our presidents would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in his home town, would you not have thought he was a self-important, conceited, egotistical jerk?

If any other of our presidents had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, wouldn't you have winced in embarrassment?

If any other of our presidents had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If any other of our presidents administrations had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If any other of our presidents had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If any other of our presidents had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America, would you have ever approved?

If any other of our presidents had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?

Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 24 months – you have 14 to come up with an answer.

Every statement and action in this email is factual and directly attributable to Barack Hussein Obama.

Every bumble is a matter of record and completely verifiable.

Political Humor

"Even after the Super Bowl victory of the New Orleans Saints, I have noticed a large number of people implying with bad jokes that Cajuns ain't smart.

I would like to state for the record that I disagree with that assessment.

Anybody that would build a city 5 feet below sea level in a hurricane zone and fill it with Democrats that can't swim is a damn genius."

Direct Quote from "Larry, the Cable Guy"

Thursday, October 13, 2011

The Quote of the Decade:

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure.
It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills.
It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies.
Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally.
Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.'
Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.
America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.
Americans deserve better.”

~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006!

A great story - maybe there is some hope for the future

PINCKNEY, Mich. – A Michigan girl is wowing classmates on and off the field at her high school.

Brianna Amat, the first female to play on Pinckney High School's varsity football team, kicked a 31-yard game-winning field goal on Friday and was crowned homecoming queen during the game,
Amat was already a soccer star at Pinckney High. She told her soccer coach she wanted to kick footballs as well. Head football coach Dan Burholder was impressed, so he put her on the team. Friday night was Amat's biggest game against Grand Blanc, who was ranked No. 7 in the state.

Amat got a note at halftime telling her to come out of the locker room. To her surprise, she was crowned homecoming queen during the game.

With five minutes to play in the third quarter, facing a fourth and goal, Burkholder called Amat to attempt a 31-yard field goal -- a career-best distance. Amat made the kick, sending Pinckney to a 9-7 win over Grand Blanc. The crowd went nuts, but Amat says she only heard silence because she was so focused on the game. Amat plans to attend Western Michigan University and major in business advertising.
