I still don't understand it!

They run some promo commercials showing abused dogs and cats, I can't even watch them I feel so sorry for those animals. They show cows and hogs and deer being abused and there is an outcry. Baby seals being beaten, another outcry. Dogfights, outcries.

Why is it, then, one of the popular shows involves hooking alligators, chaining them, clubbing them, shooting them in the head, beating them to death, and it is a popular show. I wonder why that is?

I guess we do the same thing to fish, turtles, must be something about the water.I guess if it swims or lives in the water it is OK to do whatever your want with it.

But, don't abuse a dog or a puppy or a cat. I wonder why?

Some questions to answer for me .........

My question is this. "Who can use a school facility for an event.?

Recently I have noticed some politicians using school facilities for meetings. A community meeting is being held soon at a local high school to discuss "fracking." Not sure who is sponsoring it.

I wonder what it costs, who do you pay it to, who pays for liability, who pays utilities, who pays for staff to clean up after a meeting, who, who, who?

Can anyone rent a school?  If so, what rooms within the school?

One more question, why does the county pay the owner for sheep that are killed? Where does that money come from? If a lamb gets hit and killed by a car, does the county pay then?

If a dog comes on my property and kills my dog, will the county pay me?

All good questions, any answers?

Send all answers to dooleyobserved@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Do Your Pets Notice the Switch From Daylight Saving Time?

By Michelle Bryner

You might think it unlikely that this weekend's switch from daylight saving time (DST) to standard time could throw your cat or dog's busy schedule — eat, sleep, eat, sleep — off-kilter. But, as it turns out, some animals are so in tune with their owners' schedules that falling back an hour can cause our furry friends some confusion.

Just like humans, animals have their own internal clocks that tell them when to eat, sleep and wake up. This biological timekeeper, also known as circadian rhythm, is set in motion by natural sunlight. However, for pets this effect is minimized by the artificial environment they live in, where light comes and goes not only with the rising and setting sun, but most often with the flip of a switch.

The throwaway dog whisperer

When you have some time to sit and read what I think is a really neat story about a gal who has overcome and unbelievable early life, and is really doing something worthwhile. I put it on a separate post, the link is below ..... hard to believe a child could go through all of that and then turn her life around...........
Here is the story

It's Working

I must admit that one of my "joking" remarks is working.

I said I told my Doctor that my back was bothering me. Her solution, "Buy a bag of confetti, throw it in the air and pick it up, one piece at a time."

Well, Parker is visiting with us. He is a rescue dog that we are watching for a few days, thanks to my daughter, and a wife who can't say no to such requests. So we are watching Parker, who really is a nice dog, resembles a small Husky.

So Caleb, our dog, and Parker, decided they wanted to take all the stuffing out of all the dog toys in the apartment.

So, I have made it a point to pick up the cotton, one piece at a time, and it is working.

When Parker leaves I may have to get that confetti.

Coyotes in Newark, Ohio

I have lived in remote areas in California, Nevada and Oregon. Spent a lot of time in Northern Michigan, never had any problem.

I now live in a densely populated area in Newark, Ohio. We have a small dog, Caleb. We live in the Coventry Apartments, I know the man quite well who lost his dog, just got done talking with him outside, as a matter of fact. In Today's News .........

NEWARK, Ohio—Residents in Newark are being advised by police to keep small pets indoors when possible and in sight and under control when they are out of doors.

The alert was issued in the wake of a fatal attack by a coyote Thursday night on a small dog.

The attack occurred Thursday night between 8 and 8:30 p.m. near the Coventry Apartments on Newark’s North Side.

The pet’s owner saw a coyote and saw the wild animal seize the dog, but the dog was not on a leash, and the owner could not rescue the pet Pekingese. The remains were not recovered.

Police say there have been several sightings of coyotes, either alone or in a group, but no other reports of any other attacks on animals.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is working with police to try to capture the coyotes.

If anyone sees the coyotes, they should contact Newark Police immediately at 740-670-7201.

Police advise against approaching any coyote and suggest that children should be removed from the area where a coyote is spotted.

With all the things we to worry about in this day and age, now coyotes.

I was just talking with some neighbors outside ........... now we know what has happened to a few cats that are missing, some rabbits that used to bother Caleb on his walks, gone ... one neighbor saw four coyotes in her front yard one morning, I think that explains some of Caleb's unexplained barking in the middle of the night.

Oddly enough, we don't walk Caleb at night anymore, just during the day.

A Coyote problem in Newark, Ohio ...... what's next?
