Obama: Government ‘Made This Country Great’

Who's on First .... If anyone understands the below two statements, please reply to joedooley@yahoo.com and explain them to me. I was having a pleasant Sunday morning, the sun came out, then I read this, and my head is spinning, round and round .......... made me think of Abbot and Costello, or a Bob Newhart telephone conversation. I must admit, my mind cannot comprehend to content  of the statement.

President Obama attacked Republicans for their desire to cut the government spending that “made this country great,” while also faulting them for failing to “balance the budget.”

Obama said that Republicans have “one message and that is, we’re going to make sure that we cut people’s taxes even more — so that by every objective measure our deficit is worse and we will slash government investments that have made this country great,” he argued, “not because it’s going to balance the budget, but because it’s driven by our ideological vision about how government should be. That’s their agenda, pure and simple.”

A NOTE to Congress

DEAR CONGRESS:

Last year I mismanaged my funds and this year my family and I cannot decide on a budget.

Until we have come to a unified decision that fits all of our needs and interests we will have to shut down our checkbook and will no longer be able to pay our taxes.

I'm sure you'll understand.

Thank you very much for setting an example we can follow.

Comment from Frank Beckman of WJR Radio in Detroit

Just how did GOP win budget battle?
Failed to stop EPA from costing us $$
Cut spending by about 1/1,000th of budget
Continued public broadcasting funding
Allowed abortion funding everywhere except DC (whoopee, Planned Parenthood. can keep funding Dem campaigns)
And now they'll raise debt limit next, won't they?
That's "winning"?

GOP - Budget

I've got to dig through details some more, but on surface, it sure looks like the GOP caved on budget.

What do YOU think?

Monday, March 21, 2011

I'm doing what the President requested .............

We are cutting out spending. Biting the bullet - cutting expenses. OK, Mr. President, we will do our share...................

I HOPE YOU WILL PARTICIPATE AND DO YOUR PART

The President ordered the cabinet to cut $100 million from the $3.5 trillion federal budget.

I'm so impressed by this sacrifice that we have decided to do the same thing with our personal budget. We spend about $2000 a month on groceries, household expenses, medicine, rent, utilities, etc, but it's time to get out the budget cutting axe, go through our expenses, and cut back.

We are going to cut our spending at exactly the same ratio, 1/35,000 of our total budget.

After doing the math, it looks like instead of spending $2000 a month, we are going to have to cut that number by six cents.

Yes, we are going to have to get by with $1999.94, but that's what sacrifice is all about. We'll  just have to do without some things, that are, frankly, luxuries. We have agreed to DO WITHOUT penny candy, which is pretty hard to find, anyway.
