A law enforcement official says the driver of a tour bus that crashed on a New York City highway, killing 15 people, has been indicted on criminal charges.
The official says driver Ophadell Williams has been indicted on several counts of manslaughter. The indictment has not been made public and the official spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity.
The bus was headed back to New York from an all-night casino trip. Williams has said he was alert and the bus was clipped by a tractor-trailer. Federal regulators found no evidence the bus was clipped.
Williams' attorney did not return a call to The Associated Press. He told The New York Times his client would surrender to authorities.
The Bronx district attorney's office did not return calls.
