Sunday Morning ..........

The Sun is shining brightly this morning, a bit on the chilly side, but looks like the start of a nice day, time will tell.

Music from the 40's in the back ground, memories abound. Always think of that old Philco Radio at times like these. How much nicer it was to have the family sitting around listening to the radio.

Sunday meant getting all cleaned up, putting on the suit, and heading to church. I don't remember, off hand, anyone showing up in church, without a suit on, white shirt and tie. I imagine there were some, but I always had a suit. In those days there were certain "rules" in my family. I rarely went anyplace of importance without taking a bath and getting dressed up, first. Oh, and clean underwear, always had to have clean underwear.

Church was a "must" in the weeks schedule. Sunday School and Church. Church was always my Mom and I, occasionally Dad, but he seemed to always "have to be at the hospital" on Sunday morning.

After church, Mom and I headed for Gallagher's Drug Store, and their soda fountain. Hot ham sandwich and a chocolate malt, heavenly still remember those "moments" with my Mom, still one of my favorite "snacks."

The "soda fountain" .... unfortunately a thing of the past. Cherry Cokes, rich chocolate malts, a chocolate soda, or many flavors, tuna fish salad sandwich. I don't think they even had a grill, cold sandwiches in those days, and, cokes made with Coke syrup and carbonated water. The old "Farmers Soda"  cream soda and vanilla ice cream, or the old standby, The Chocolate Soda. Ate many a lunch at a counter similar to this.
