SMI 4/12/2014

Another Saturday has rolled around, sunny in Ohio, a little chilly, but nice.

That bus crash in California was a tragedy, a scenario of young guys, looking forward to and planning their future, snuffed out, makes it even more of a tragedy. I think the truck was a victim of a bomb of some sort on board, or at least a fire on board his truck that caused the entire incident. There is no way the entire event was planned, but something happened to the truck to cause the fire.

Of course, we are getting used to "tragedy" ... we see so much of it anymore. The events themselves are horrendous, but even, seemingly more important, is why, why the accident happened seems to be of major importance. Why did the airplane ... crash, or whatever, but why seems to be of great importance. Why the crash? There must be an entire industry devoted to finding causes of tragedies.

Mickey Rooney is gone, a long and sometimes tragic lifestyle. Now there seems to be a controversy going on about where to bury him, and when they do, and get it done, will he go ......... up, or down? "Boys Town" was one of the first movies I remember seeing, many years ago.

The Masters, thankfully, Arnie, Jack and Gary are still around, the last of the "Golden" Generation of golf. They made golf what it is today. There are others, but they are the mainstays of the game. They were the first "stars" to be televised, and, they had .... something that seems to be lacking today ..... personalities, personas, bigger than life. Arnold Palmer is, the King. Jack and Gary are close, but Arnie sits at a higher level than all the rest. Sam Snead is close, and there were others who are gone that shone a little brighter, but Mr. Palmer, is the one. I have seen a number of them, Dayton, Ohio had some great courses and hosted many tournaments. Sam Snead was my favorite, his "warm up" was a treat to watch.

I hope all have a nice weekend. This blog is about all I can do on this laptop, I can't even get in to any websites, if I could get in to Dell I would buy a new one, but cannot do that. Mail and laptop are it, no Facebook or Twitter ....................... we re-installed Windows, lost everything I had, no Publisher, lost so much ......
