Just received a nice Father's Day gift from my Son and his lovely wife who live in sunny North Carolina. It is an assortment of coffee and pastry goodies. I am eating some Dolcetto now as I write this. It has some exotic looking coffee in the basket. It will be a treat to have some good coffee for a change.
With the price of coffee going up we have resorted to having a neighbor of ours, who works for a local Starbucks save us the used grounds. She brings them to us and we dry them out slowly in the microwave, and then use them to make coffee. It's a little weak, but we tell our neighbors that we "exclusively" drink Starbucks.
With money getting really tighter all the time and our utilities going up, rent going up, we have to cut corners where we can. My wife is working on developing a recipe which includes Ramen Noodles and baked beans garnished with day old bread crumbs. It saves us money and has been useful in my quest to lose weight because one doesn't eat too much of it.
