Brooks will join Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood and Ronnie Dunn for a benefit concert on July 6th to raise money for the tornado victims in Oklahoma. The concert will be held at the University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord Family Stadium at Owen Field.
Tulsa World reports that the devastation in Oklahoma hit too close to home for Toby Keith. The country star grew up in Moore, Oklahoma, and currently lives nearby in Norman.
Brooks said: “Once we got the news that the tornado had hit Toby’s hometown, Miss Yearwood and I told Toby we were at his service for whatever he chose to do … I am amazed at the human spirit the tornado victims have shown. I am humbled by the giving of the volunteers. It is an honor to get to be a part of this healing process.”
Tickets, which will cost $35, will go on sale on June 21. The money raised from the benefit concert will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.
Sadly, this isn't the first time that Keith has had to throw a benefit concert in Oklahoma. The singer played relief shows in 2003 and 1999.
Keith said: “I know these folks and they’re resilient, but we’re going to keep helping them anyway we can. I’m proud to get together with some others from around here who are just as committed as I am to supporting these communities.”
