You wake your child up on a crisp Winter Friday morning, lay out his clothes, head for the kitchen to fix him oatmeal and toast and hot chocolate.
You put his heavy jacket on him, his toboggan hat, the scarf that his grandma made for him, put his backpack on, and walk with him to the corner to wait on his bus.
As the bus approaches, you give him a kiss, he pulls away, "Aw Mom," you hand him his GI Joe lunch box, and he heads off to school.
A few hours later you are watching the news when the announcement is made.
