Last night I was asked, "When did you work in Reno?"
My answer ........
"I worked in Reno in the days that you could walk up to the Keno counter, take a blank ticket, pick eight numbers, give the Keno writer your slip with the number picks and $1.10, take a seat at the bar, and wait for the numbers to be drawn."
If you picked all eight numbers, you would take your ticket, walk to the Keno counter, show them your winning ticket and ask for cash. They would go to the safe, take out stacks of money, and present you with $25,000.00, in cash. You would put the money in a paper bag, or perhaps a cloth bag of some kind, perhaps give the writer a nice "toke," and walk out the door. You might even ask for a security guard to accompany you home, and they would generally oblige.
Those were the days .............
