Miss Brooklyn embarks on her education .....

Well this old man shed a few tears today, still have a bit of a lump in my throat when I look at this photograph. Our Great Grandaughter, Miss Brooklyn, started in pre-school today. She did pretty good, made it through, and then after school they came over for a pizza dinner.

I cannot begin to tell you what went through my head when I saw her, holding on to Mom and Dad's hands, entering that door. I just know it choked me up a bit, no, a lot.

I think it just brought back so many memories, in just that instant, that it was rather overwhelming. I think my age amplified the event. I have seen my kids, my grandkids go through this, but a great grandchild is almost a gift .... from God ... that he has allowed me to live this long and to experience so much in my lifetime. And to see her walking through  that door, on her first day of .... a big part of her life ... much of which I probably will not be around to see, well, it made me sad.

But, just look at that face, Miss Brooklyn .... she was so excited, starting school, what a big day in her life .... and I was there ...... thank YOU for letting me share in this day. Love you Miss Brooklyn.

When I saw this, read what it was .. how did I feel ... sickness in the stomach, sad, upset, disbelieving, I'm not sure what all emotions came to mind. I remember some similar photographs during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I wonder if this doubles as their little nappie blanket things. A bulletproof nappie blankee. "What is that orange thing, Dear?"

"It's my bulletproof nappie blanket Mommy, is't it purty?"

Are we a great nation or what? 

Why are they orange? Is it a visibility issue, I would think another more bland color might be more practical.

School Bans Valentine’s Day Candy, Cards

Boys and girls at a Massachusetts elementary school have been banned from bringing Valentine’s Day candy or cards over cultural equality issues and federal guidelines regulating candy.

Parents of students at Salemwood Elementary School in Malden, Mass, received a letter informing them of the policy – that impacts not just Valentine’s Day – but all holidays.

“We have many different nationalities, cultures and languages spoken,” Principal Carol Keenan told Fox News. “Because of that we don’t honor specific holidays.”

Keenan said she did not want some students feeling left out.

“This is done with all good intentions – to have all students be accepted, to have all students feel like they belong,” she said.

HOW do you create jobs? I thought that demand created jobs. Every politician involved today made a statement in reference to creating jobs. Jobs produce something that is sold, either a product or a service. Creating jobs just for the sake of creating jobs makes no sense to me. It is a nice statement, sounds politically  correct, but I really wonder what, when, where and why those jobs are created.

Prediction. I think if Romney loses in Michigan we are going to see a Gingrich resurgence. Let's face it, Obama got elected for one reason, charisma. It cannot be bottled or put in a can. It is just there, and you either have it or you don't. Now, he hot only has that charisma, but he and his staff have had four years to formulate their "war" plan, To me, that makes him unbeatable. The only candidate left with any measure of charisma is Newt, and he is a great debater. Santorum is getting some bad advice on what to say and has to do too much damage control each day.

Gas Prices. Heading to $5.00. Why? If Obama woke up tomorrow morning, let the world know that all government vehicles were going to convert to NATURAL GAS .... we would soon, be paying $2.00 a  gallon in no time at all. WHY are they making moves to make gas prices go up?
