And, the winner is ..... not us!

Again, today, I was sitting just inside our local Kroger store, a large supermarket, waiting for my wife. Obesity is not only a problem in this country, it is an epidemic. Any foreign power could take over this country, why, because they could outrun us. Say BOO, and take off running, and in no time at all, we would be falling back. Not all, but many, way too many.

This week, for example, this little blog was read by people in many countries. Turkey, Polandwas, Ukraine, France, Brazil, Germany, Russia, China and the Netherlands. I know little to nothing about the economies in those countries, but there must me many who would be in awe of our Krogers and the abundance of food items in the store. 

They would sit with me and look at the people coming in and going out. Many obese, some overly obese, obese husbands and wives, some, so obese they have to ride around in an electric cart, often, a cart filled with, cases of Coke and Pepsi, pies and cakes, many sugary products, and to maintain good health, bottled water, cases of bottled water, jugs of water, some, 5-gallon jugs of water.

And now, tattoos, so many tats, arms full, legs full, neck and backs full of tats. Conclusion, the sugar is causing normal people to acquire tattoos, it must be the sugar. Why else, would a normal appearing young woman, get her arms, her  legs, her neck, he shoulders .... and only she and the tattoo guy know what else might be covered with  sub - dural ink. "I have fat arms and fat legs, and I want you to see them, so I turned them in to works of art." And, the same goes for men. I don't know who started the fad, they even had their own TV shows. I have seen people, paying for their groceries with food stamps, which is fine, and they are covered from head to toe, with tats. Can one trade food stamps for tats. 

Someday, a foreign country, comprised of lean healthy citizens, will come to our border, thumb their nose and start running ..... at a distance, not too far away, we will drop to the ground, exhausted, panting, out of breath, just drop, and the lean healthy country will just take over. And, when we finally get our second wind, we rise, ready to defend out country, and they will bombard us, with Big Mac's and fries, cokes and shakes, and we will eat, and drop to the ground, again. No guns, no bombs, just Big Macs.

Good food, clean place, I eat there .......

Why do I eat at certain restaurants?

Answer: I like the food, and, I have to include the service if it is a "sit down."

We went to a Steak N Shake once, the sandwich was laughable, had been thrown together. The waitress even said "I wondered," but she served it anyway, which made me mad. The photo of the fries on the menu, were not what they served. Bottom line, they apologized, agreed with me, but, I will never go back.

Bad food, bad service,, many reasons I will not patronize a restaurant.

On my list there is NOTHING about their religious or political or any other of their beliefs. I don't care who  they hire, or for what reasons, I go there for their food, not for who is serving it to me.

We don't have one of those chicken places here in Newark, anyway, so I don't have to be concerned. I checked out their website, got some nice looking sandwiches.

A WHOPPER of a Whopper in London

LONDON (AP) — London's sprawling Olympic Park comes with a supersized McDonald's.

The fast-food giant says its flagship restaurant at the park will be its biggest, busiest and most sustainable, with three-quarters of the furniture and fittings set to be reused after the games.

But despite complaints by British doctors, the food choices will largely be the same as McDonald's fare around the world.

McDonald's is the sole restaurant allowed to sell brand-name food at the London Games. It will run four outlets at the venue, including a flagship that seats 1,500 people. It expects to serve up to 14,000 people a day.

The Academy of Royal Medical Colleges recently said having McDonald's sponsor the Olympics sends the wrong message in Britain, which is battling increasing obesity.

So Much Hamburger

  Weeks after a Silicon Valley county in California became the first in the nation to ban toys from McDonald's Happy Meals and other food promotions aimed at children, a public health watchdog group called on the fast food giant to remove the playthings from all its meal packages.

  Citing toys aimed at promoting the latest "Shrek" movie, the Center for Science in the Public Interest said that the plastic promotions lure children into McDonald's restaurants where they are then likely to order food that is too high in calories, fat and salt.
  The organization on Tuesday served the fast food giant with a letter expressing its intent to sue if toys are not removed. The letter is legally required in several states before lawsuits can be brought under consumer protection statutes.
  "McDonald's is the stranger in the playground handing out candy to children," Stephen Gardner, litigation director for the advocacy group said in a statement. "McDonald's use of toys undercuts parental authority and exploits young children's developmental immaturity."

COMMENTS:
  I think it is wonderful when a COUNTY has nothing better to do than to ban toys from a fast food restaurant. Toys aimed at children (DAH) as opposed to giving out grass and drugs to the parents.

  Let them get it at home where Mom buys all frozen food, frozen dinners, packaged items, items with sugar, salt and other good things. If MOM knew how to cook, her kids would be a lot better off. WHO takes them to McDonalds, anyway?
  I think it's great that an organization (my guess is they have some very HIGH PAID executives, they got grant money, got Obama stimulus money, and THEY do not eat at McDonalds, they have healthy expense accounts paid for by the above mentioned group. Hey, how did they find out about McDonalds Kids Meals, OH, their kids eat them.................

  Just what in the hell does McDonalds think they are doing trying to sell their product.

SEX sells, maybe McDonalds would be better off using half naked women in suggestive poses, or some half dressed handsome guy wearing low cut briefs. That would bring in Mommy and Daddy but then they would have to bring the kids and the whole thing would start over again.
  How about an ADULTS MEAL .... use Viagra, mini-vibrators, Pleasure Gell and some other incentives, "adult toys."
  Then, that same organization can sue them for promoting sex. Probably have that old judge who had to rule on whether there was a Santa Claus or not. Could be a good movie .... "Miracle on McDonalds Street."

Obama and the kids

I wonder what all the concern is about Obama talking and marketing his ideas with young schoolchildren.

It certainly didn't work for McDonalds, oh, yes, I guess it did.

Maybe that is where he got the idea, and look what it did for McDonalds.

He is looking ahead, much like, if you train, from birth, young children that suicide bombing is a good thing..................

The Battleground Poll conducted for George Washington University found 42 percent of likely voters have a favorable opinion of Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee who stepped down last week as governor of Alaska. The survey found 47 percent had an unfavorable opinion of Palin.
