I wonder???????

To be on the safe side, I want to thank all those of you who have read and supported this blog.

Will it all end tomorrow, 12/21/2012, I certainly don't know. I have watched some presentations, by intelligent, rational, scientific minds who say yes. Thousands have flocked to a location in Central America. Some place here in Ohio is being visited by many, something about magnets.

There are many cultures who say yes.

A "polar shift" is predicted, a reversal of the earths rotation combined with some solar events. I wish there were some who refuted all those theories. So far, many authorities and scientists agree that something might happen and that gives me a reason for some concern.

Sandbags won't help this if it happens. I don't like "height" so if I am suddenly catapulted into space .... ugh!

Walmart Responds to Hurricane Sandy

As  sun has come up, we saw pictures of some of the damage this storm has brought with it. We remain concerned for the communities and for the millions of people that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

At peak, we've had 294 facility closures, which include stores, clubs and distribution centers. Most of those were due to mandatory evacuations, power outages and safety concerns. The number affected continues to fluctuate, and this page is being updated every few hours as the situation changes.

At this point, we have no reports of significant damages to facilities or associate injuries related to this storm. A few associates have reported personal property damages due to flooded homes. We're doing everything we can to ensure they have a roof over their heads for the time being. We have established a call center for our associates, where we've asked them to check in and let us know they are OK or talk with one of the hundreds of volunteers who are staffing the lines that can help them find shelter, food or support.

We will be working with our disaster relief partners throughout the day today, and beyond, to assess and support the life sustaining needs of the communities affected by the storms.

Walmart gets a lot of criticism for a number of things, but, when the need arises, they seem to quietly be the first to step up. They don't get enough credit for this. 294 stores closed, hard to believe.

North Vegas is going South

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — There are no signs of rioters, wind-damaged homes or flooding. The brand new City Hall features gleaming marble floors and the public recreation centers offer Zumba, karate and Pilates classes.

Despite all of its suburban trimmings, North Las Vegas is officially a disaster area.

After five years of declining property taxes, massive layoffs and questionable spending, leaders of the blue-collar, family-oriented city outside Las Vegas declared a state of emergency, invoking a rarely used state law crafted for unforeseen disasters.

No matter that the statute, which allows municipalities to suspend union contracts and avoid paying scheduled salary increases, doesn't actually include fiscal emergencies among the list of potential disasters.
"It says, in case of 'emergency such as.' You can't list how many different types of emergencies there are in the world," City Council member Wade Wagner said of the move, which will save the city $9 million.

There are many cities across the nation grappling with declining property values and growing expenses like North Las Vegas, but few, if any, have declared financial emergency.

The Hindenburg Disaster

The Hindenburg disaster took place on Thursday, May 6, 1937, as the German passenger airship LZ 129 Hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, which is located adjacent to the borough of Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Of the 97 people on board (36 passengers, 61 crew), there were 35 fatalities, including one death among the ground crew.
The disaster was the subject of spectacular newsreel coverage, photographs, and Herbert Morrison's recorded radio eyewitness report from the landing field, which was broadcast the next day. The actual cause of the fire remains unknown, although a variety of hypotheses have been put forward for both the cause of ignition and the initial fuel for the ensuing fire. The incident shattered public confidence in the giant, passenger-carrying rigid airship and marked the end of the airship era.

A Possible BILLION DOLLAR Disaster about to happen

Nursing homes and hospitals in New York City's primary evacuation zone must begin evacuating or prove to city officials why they won't, Mayor Bloomberg said Thursday as Hurricane Irene approached North Carolina on its way to New York.

MTA Chairman Jay Walder said the agency might also have to suspend all of its trains and buses on Saturday. That includes Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road along with city subways and buses.

Forecasters say a few showers could break out ahead of the storm on Saturday afternoon, with the wind and surf building into that night. If Hurricane Irene stays on the projected path, it could slice across the New York area sometime early Sunday as a Category 2 storm and then quickly head up into New England on Sunday late afternoon.

What's Next?

Anthony is in hiding, that trial is over, the war is getting rather boring, for those of us at home, getting very tired of seeing Obama on the television, he is on more regularly than Ellen. Are the fires out in the Southwest, have not heard much recently? Any floods, tornadoes, heard briefly that some volcano is erupting, don't think the lava will make it to Newark, Ohio.

Something has to be standing in the wings, just waiting to erupt on the news scene. My guess is that most of the news persons are at their home office, just waiting for the next GREAT news story.

Some TV shows can just rehash abductions and murders forever. High heat around the country is not much of a story. I cool off by watching Ice Road Truckers or gathering Crabs in the wherever they go after them. If I get seasick from that I can watch them cut down trees in the swamp, or gather up alligators, or watch survival in the hinterlands, guys close to death, hungry, just barely surviving, while the film crews shooting them are well fed. Haven't figured that out yet.

Middle of the Summer, so we are having End of Summer Sales, and seeing Christmas in July on the one selling channel. Back to school merchandise came out at Walmart the day after school closed, and on TV, promos about the New Fall Season. One ad was for a show that "everyone" is talking about, and it has not even aired yet. I never figured that out, or Hit of the Season and no one has seen it ye

Monday Night Football is already being promoted and the last I heard they were not sure if there was going to be a season or not. Trust me, the networks WILL NOT let that happen. Players and owners have nothing to do with it, TV controls sports, so, we will see NFL football next season. All this off season bantering is just promotion for the upcoming season.

Just wondering where the next "disaster" will come from, the next "big" news story, something has to happen, somewhere. There are thousands of people who make their living off of "news," just waiting to spring on some ............. BIG EVENT...

No Way

There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Obama had the CIA create the disaster in Chile, to put TV focus on Chile, and not on the political races. During that blackout, there has been quite a "swing" in the political races. Democrats have made tremendous gains during this time.

This can be attributed to "early voting arranging," and other "alterations" in changing the results.

Arrangements had been made to have Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and Reid be the last two rescuers out, but the rescue schedule, according to Obama, "due to Democratic efficiency," was executed  much faster than originally anticipated. Obama thought it would be a "political coup" to have Nancy shown to the world as the brainchild of the entire operation, and the rescue "facilitator."

Air Force One was on its way to Chile with many incumbent Democrats office holders on aboard, but was diverted back to Washington when Obama's plans were shattered by an efficiently run rescue operation, orchestrated by the Chilean Government.

As Air Force One was navigating a slow 180 degree turn, to head them North, Obama was overheard saying, "They are really good, I wish I was Chilean, hey, maybe I am."
