Announcer plays along when 3 deer beat horses onto US racetrack

A post I thought was worthwhile. The comments to the article were great also ....

WASHINGTON - Spectators who came to watch horses at a western Pennsylvania racetrack got a surprise this week when three deer got onto the course first and beat the horses to racing.

According to KDKA-TV, a race was about to begin Wednesday night at the Meadows Racetrack in Washington County when the deer jumped onto the track.

Race announcer Roger Huston didn't miss a beat. He began calling the race as it unfolded, saying things like: "As they race down the track, Bambi has the lead. Here comes Rudolph from the outside."

The deer ran fast but kept changing directions. At one point, they appeared headed to the paddock, where the horses were being held.

Several minutes into the show, the deer decided to leave the track to the horses.

Huston says Bambi won the race.

Someone won big bucks
Oh, deer!
The next headline will outline the possibility of a deer doping scandal
Nothing runs like a Deere
Just my luck. I put my money on Rudolph to win.
I won some doe

The BIG Deer Hunt ............

Sunday hunting was legalized last year for archery only
I did all my prep-work . . .
I scouted the area all summer. . .
I searched out the best location for my tree-stand . . .
I set it all up a month ahead of time . . .
I trailed the herd . . .
I picked out a trophy buck . . .
Two days before opening day I rechecked every aspect of the hunt . . .
Everything was in place . . .
Sunday morning, I woke up at 2 am . . .
I put on my camo, loaded my pack, set out for my stand . . .
This was destined to be an epic hunt . . .
As I approached my deer stand . . .

I changed my mind,
decided to go to church instead.

If only ..................

I was asked to post this foto again, it is one of my favorites. As I recall, they found this little deer under their porch and the dog took over. I think they raised it, with the help of the dog, and returned it to the woods ... if only people could be so kind ...................

Newark Councilman has the solution ............

A recent incident at an Arizona race track, triggered a unique idea in the fertile mind of a Newark, Ohio City Councilman. North Newark has been plagued recently by Coyotes killing animals, and it has become quite a problem.

The Councilman read this article:

Brad Coleman, a driver for Joe Gibbs racing was traveling at 190 mph when he saw a coyote a mere 100 feet away. With no possible way of slowing down to save the creature, the driver ran it over. To his surprise he couldn't figure our where it went. He describes the incident,

“It just started smoking like crazy. And it smelled terrible. I didn’t see anything in the mirror, so I was like, ‘I wonder where it went?’".

The perceptive Councilman contacted a number of area businessmen and plans are underway to start construction of a new racetrack in the general area of the Coyote problem.

The area is located near a soccer field, some farmland, and an ice skating rink. The Councilman was quoted as saying, "We can use that ice facility to store the dead animals until proper disposal procedures can be arranged."

The area is also experiencing an over population of deer, and it is hoped that the noise and traffic will also interest the deer to wonder on to the track.

The Gibbs Race Team is in the process of designing a new front end for their race cars, similar to the ones used by locomotives many years ago. With no additional front end protection, many of the cars running in Arizona have been demolished.

Gibbs stated, "Hitting a coyote at 190 miles per hour is bad enough, but if they think we can help diminish their deer population by hitting a 200 pound deer at that speed they are mistaken."

The finished plans are being drawn up, and will be made public soon.
