The way it WAS .........

This was the Reno I knew, very little to any of it exists any more, I guess. The bank on the corner here, went there with Ed Keeney, he knew the bank president, we went down into the basement, and he sold Ed some silver dollars, with the CC, for a dollar each. Ed made keychains out of them for his employees as a Christmas gift.

Harrah's is next to the bank, then The Nevada Club and Harold's. On the other corner here, was a clothing store where I bought a lot of clothes. They had Louis Roth and some other great brands.

Notice the street parking in those days. It was a great little city, more churches per capita than most other cities, I lived a few blocks from town, walked to work, a great time in my life.

Lincoln Fitzgerald, "Fitz," owner of The Nevada Club, hired me and trained me as a dealer, and afforded me a great ten years, not all with him, but all due to his training.

I guess that is all a "plaza" now, no mention of what .... "was" .... the glory days of Nevada, and all erased from history.

The Smith's from Harold's Club, and Fitz, were responsible for making Nevada what it is today. They trained an army of dealers. In this block I have seen bank presidents, Governor Grant Sawyer, Bill Harrah, all the Smith's, many "stars" of screen, stage, etc. Saw Mark Harmon of NCIS fame, along with his Dad, Tom Harmon, Michigan Football Legend, and the rest of his family. Many of the "rich and famous" have walked down this block
