So that's why they do it .........

Nola Zerelco, a neighbor of ours here in Coventry, stopped by for coffee this morning as she sometimes does, and we got started talking about the NSA disclosure, and how they were listening to telephone conversations, as well as the internet and all of our Emails.

“Dahling,” that’s the way she talked, “you got no idea. We been listening to phone calls for years. Why, when I was an operator at the old phone company, we listened in on everyone's calls. We usta have pools on when a Mrs. So and so was gonna find out about the girlfriend her husband was always talkin to. Old Helen Cornwell made a lot of money just by eavesdropping in on old Sl, well I guess I better not mention his name, but she bought stock when he did. She’s livin in Florida, got a nice place there.”

Nola went on and on about her experiences at the phone company. I guess, in my lifetime, we really haven't had “Privacy”  like we thought we had.  I guess when old George Washington was sitting out on a bench in a park, talking with someone, the conversation got no farther than that bench. Maybe some guy hid in the bushes somewhere trying to overhear, but that was the best anyone could do.

Now, we spent 2 billion dollars just to build a complex designed only to eavesdrop, and that is just one of many and includes just the building. How many billions are spent a year, by our government, to spy on us?

What kind of equipment do they buy to do that?

Harry Winston, salesman with the ABC Data Retrieval Company, enters his office. “Hi Harry, do any good today?
“Well, yea, I closed that deal with NSA.”
“How much was that, Harry.”
“Well, if we can get it designed and built to their specks, it looks like about 4 billion.”
“Oh, that much!”

Our government, which is of the people, by the people and for the people, is spending an undisclosed amount of money, to erect installations at undisclosed locations, so they can listen to all our phone calls, see all our emails and know everything there is to know, about us.

Conclusion: WE have lost control. THEY are free to say, do, spend, whatever they want, and WE are not free to ask ANYTHING …. Because it is for our own good.

Nola used to do it, but she did it to kill time and make her shift go by faster., maybe to learn some “secrets,” but for no malicious purposes, maybe even to check on her husband, Carl … Oh, now I understand, Carl knew she might be listening, so he knew better than to call, much like the window in the ceiling in a casino, they may be watching ….. Maybe there is no real 2 billion dollar building in Utah, they just told us that to scare us.
