Employee: Excuse me sir, may I talk to you?
Boss: Sure, come on in. What can I do for you?
Employee: Well sir, as you know, I have been an employee of this prestigious firm for over ten years.
Boss: Yes.
Employee: I won't beat around the bush. Sir, I would like a raise. I currently have four companies after me so I decided to talk to you first.
Boss: A raise? I would love to give you a raise, but this is just not the right time.
Employee: I understand your position, and I know that the current economic down turn has had a negative impact on sales, but you must also take into consideration my hard work, pro- activeness and loyalty to this company for over a decade.
Boss: Taking into account these factors, and considering I don't want to start a brain drain, I'm willing to offer you a ten percent raise and an extra five days of vacation time. How does that sound?
Employee: Great! It's a deal! Thank you, sir!
Boss: Before you go, just out of curiosity, what companies were after you?
Employee: Oh, the Electric Company, Gas Company, Water Company, and the Mortgage Company!

Undercover Boss
Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder about the credability of this new show, Undercover Boss.
"OK, gather round everybody. There is a new guy starting today. Just treat him as you would any new hire, help him out as much as you can. Oh, kinda overlook and don't mind the camera guy, or that sound guy, or that other production guy, or the director, just act like they are not here. Wonder too if it would be too much trouble for you all to go back to your lockers and put on these new work clothes we have for you. Oh, incidentally, that camera crew breaks for lunch at one, and the caterers will set up their food in building 12."
I always wondered too about the guy surviving on the deserted island with no water or food, just a camera crew.
If you look at "reality shows" realistically, you see them in a different way.
If they can make watching guys sitting around playing poker, interesting, they can do anything.
I always liked, too, when they advertised a new show as the "hit of the upcoming season," when it hadn't even been on the air yet. But it was still a hit.
But then, I am still trying to notice a drastic difference in our new HiDef picture, over the old one.
