Tiger cheats??????? or a trick to get viewers ......

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Tiger Woods got a reprieve Saturday in the Masters when he was given a two-shot penalty for a bad drop after signing his card and still was allowed to stay in the tournament.

Tiger Woods screwed up at Augusta. I can guarantee you there was NO WAY that he would not be playing for the rest of the tournament. Television wants him there, and what TV says, goes.

Now, just think of this scenario, from the standpoint of TV viewers .... Tiger is way back .... how many people are going to watch .... today and tomorrow .... to see if he starts a climb to the top of the leader board? And, and, if he does, would it not be the most memorable Masters ................ever? Remember Tin Cup............ ?

Tiger Woods wins the Memorial Tournament

DUBLIN, Ohio – A spectacular chip-in at the 16th hole on Sunday provided Tiger Woods with the edge he needed to win the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance for the fifth time in his career.

The legendary Jack Nicklaus, who hosts the tournament, told Woods the shot was the "best I’ve ever seen here." The former world No. 1 wasn’t done yet, though, as Woods made a 9-footer for birdie at the 18th hole to seal the win.

Woods closed with a 67 that tied for the low round of the day and lifted him to 9 under for the tournament. He birdied three of his last four holes to hold off Rory Sabbatini and Andres Romero by two strokes.

"I hit it good today," Woods told CBS announcer Peter Kostis after the round. "That was some good stuff out there today. I never really missed a shot today. As Sean (Foley, his swing coach) likes to say — go out and put on a stripe show today."

The victory was the 73rd of Woods’ career and ties him with Nicklaus for second all-time. Only Sam Snead has more with 82. Woods is 10 years younger than Nicklaus was when he won his 73rd at the 1986 Masters.

Tiger, never be the same again ....

Remember when we heard that Tiger was in a serious accident, and he was in a critical condition?

We all thought,, "What a tragedy."

We felt sorry for he, and his family. Out thoughts went back to his first victory at Augusta, hugging his Dad and his Mom, how all his hard work had paid off.

We thought of some of those winning puts, the fist in that upward position, the "yawaha" expression on his face. He was a superman, a super human being, whose practice and dedication to his sport was paying off. Victory was his, and deservedly so.

Now we are seeing his human side, or a side that tarnishes all of the trophies he has won. His Dad is not here to see it, his Mother and his Wife, and his fans, and the world, are.

Tiger lives in the professional world with Hogan, Snead, Palmer, Nicklaus and many others, none of whom, have been involved in this scale of notoriety. Tiger wanted to go out as "The Best." He wanted to surpass his hero, Nicklaus, and come out ahead of the likes of Hogan, Snead and Palmer.

Unfortunately, he has carved his own niche in golf history, and he will never live this down, his image is tarnished, forever. The king has been dethroned, and he will never get that same respect, again. He was looked upon as "super human," and in the end, he was merely "human."

Politicians have been caught, and their transgressions, forgotten. We expect such things from politicians, actors, singers, probably even football and basketball players. But not from golfers. The very nature of their game, is being a "gentleman." Honesty, integrity, are all part of the game.

He will probably hold more winners cups aloft, but their brightness will never shine as bright, again.

Great day for TV

I know I was, and I think most of the world was pulling for Phil Mickelson today, but it was not to be, he just blows too many short putts.

I got really excited when he pulled even .... but I knew it was over when he blew that next putt .... I didn't want to see him lose, it meant so much to him, his wife, and the world. He just blows too many short putts. It was nice to see Glover win it though, the emotion and all, but I didn't watch the end of it, not easy to feel upbeat for one guy when you feel so sad for another one ..............

Great Monday morning on TV thouth, the US Open and Wimbledon.

Glover - Mickelson - Federrer .......... something is wrong, where is the Tiger?
