Television Enjoyment Secrets

I am getting a great deal of enjoyment out of all of these political ads on television. Not only Obama and Romney, but all of the other "privately" sponsored ads as well. I almost look forward to them appearing on our TV. How is that possible, you ask?

I keep the controller, in hand, mute button at the ready, and the more proficient I get at hitting that button, the less audio I get. I have my button hitting time down to a mini-second.

Oh, the peace and quiet during those commercials, only an occasional hum of our air conditioner unit, or perhaps a car passing by our apartment.

I'm beginning to find out to, that many of the new "reality" shows on TV are much better with the sound off. Especially  some of the one-hour shows. Sixty minutes of quiet, so refreshing. No talking, no music, no drama, no yelling, no arguing, and that's just what was on the TV.

My biggest problem now, after watching all these political ads, Obama talking about Romney, in a negative way, and vice versa, is it better to hit the MUTE button, or just turn the whole set off? Actually, with the quality of the new shows, all the commercials on and between shows, political ads, might just be best to get rid of the TV. No, I guess I better wait till after football season, yea, the Olympics too. Just gotta keep that MUTE button handy. Whoops, commercial, CLICK.

The funniest scene - EVER

Not sure how many remember Taxi, a great series, outstanding cast. None better than old Reverend Jim. This scene was when he was taking his drivers test. My daughter Melissa was just here, and along with wife Marilyn, we watched it. Side splitting humor, tears of laughter streaming down out cheeks ... In my estimation, this is perhaps the funniest scent ever filmed for television, or anything else for that matter.

To Dish or not to Dish, that is the question...

We had a "dish" installed a few days ago, life has not been the same since. We "bundled" our telephone, internet and television. We could now download many movies, have faster internet, and when the phone rang, the call showed on the TV, How great is that? All sorts of shows to watch, and we saved money on the monthly bill. Well, many of the channels we had to pay for, and seems like they listed most of the shows twice.

I've been hitting 4, 6, and 10 since the mid 50's. For the last few years I have watched 46, the old movie channel and MeTV, I was really happy with those, and we were told we would get all of them, by the saleslady, of course, plus she told us she had talked with our landlord, and the installation was OK with them. I was happy,  knew just what and when to watch, life was good, no ripples on my pond, so to speak.

A few days ago there was a problem of some kind, and a "technician" came out to fix it. He ran a wire from our telephone, loosely, around the baseboard, SCREWED IT to the OUTSIDE of our front door frame, so it showed nice and bright for all to see. I have never seen such a shoddy, unprofessional installation.

Marilyn, my wife, and I have been married for almost 50 years, we have argued more the last few days than in our entire married life.

None of the movies were available, our computer speed was cut almost in half, the shows were loaded with ads, many were not available, but, when we got an incoming call, it showed on the TV screen, as well as on the phone, like it had, and our answering machine announced the number, like it always had.

After a couple of days on the phone, shattered nerves, blood pressure way up, stomach acting up like a volcano, we terminated the service. They had the audacity to want us to spend $400 plus for the installation. They are going to send us a box to send something back, and, they want $17 for the label to send it back.

We will probably have to pay someone to plug up the three holes in the wall, fix the siding outside, drywall inside, and fix the door that he put the screws in.

Do we ever want a dish, NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why Me?

Show an abused dog or cat and there is a public outcry. Newsmen say, "These next scenes your family may find objectionable," and then they show scenes of animal abuse.

So, WHY, is it OK to show Alligators being hooked, drugged and then shot, point blank, in the head, and there is a whole series devoted to this scenario. Another one shows hunting and killing wild hogs. I must admit I have not seen that one, but saw the promos. I have not watched the Alligator show either, but came across parts while channel hopping.

Some schools have an Alligator as a mascot, whey have they not said something.

Are networks that hard up for shows? How about a live show from a slaughter house showing how they kill all those cows each day? Where are the animal rights activists when you need them?
