Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy, has been found not guilty of drugged driving by a jury in New York.
Kennedy smiled as the verdict was read Friday, and her mother, Ethel Kennedy, hugged other relatives in the courtroom.
Kerry Kennedy was arrested in 2012 after she swerved into a tractor-trailer on an interstate highway, and tests later revealed a small amount of a sleeping medication in her blood.
She said on the stand during the trial that she believes she accidentally took the sleeping pill instead of her daily thyroid medication. Both were set out on the counter, in similar bottles, in preparation for an upcoming overseas trip.
Prosecutors had argued that she should have pulled over once she realized something was wrong. Her lawyers argued that she never realized she was impaired until after the crash.
The jury began deliberating Thursday afternoon after a trial that started on Monday.

The Dream ...... of a Kennedy admirer ..
He never felt that Castro, or the Mafia had anything to do with the assassination. He felt that several shots were, in fact fired, but who, why and where, he, himself had no conclusions drawn, but the dream, he kept having this dream.
It was about Kennedy and his health. Many knew of his health issues, few, if any knew of the gravity of his actual health situation.
On one occasion, when many had thought Jack was spending some time at Lake Tahoe at Sinatra's Cal Neva Lodge, a double had been sent to Nevada, and Jack silently checked in, through the back door, at the Mayo Clinic to undergo a complete physical, away from the prying eyes of the press, and the government. The results were never known, by anyone, but Joe Kennedy, who personally received the results at his home in Hyannis Port, and after thoroughly reading and understanding their contents, destroyed the documents. He died, November 18, 1969, taking his secret to the grave with him.
The man who had the dream, related to me that Joe Kennedy, on a "fact finding" trip to the Soviet Union in 1960, had met a defector, Lee Oswald, who was a former Marine. Mr. Kennedy met with him on three occasions during his stay in Russia, and learned much of the young man. An acquaintance of Oswald, also a defector, related that Kennedy had befriended Oswald and even given him an unspecified amount of money to help in his living expenses. On their last meeting, a dinner, he remembered Oswald thanking Kennedy, and in closing, saying to him, "If there is ever anything I can do for you, just let me know.
In the dream, Kennedy knew his son, Jack did not have long to live in his presidency. His end would come slowly, after a lengthy period of deterioration, he would be reduced to a mere shadow of his once dominant figure. His father could not let that happen. He wanted an honorable legacy, one of achievement and accomplishment. He wanted his son to be remembered, but, Jack's health would not let that happen.
He thought often of an honorable legacy, one of adoration. He knew what had to be done. The rest we all know. Did Jackie know of the plan, no one will ever know. Does that explain her composure during the entire ordeal, the knowledge that his legacy would live and endure forever, that of a great hero, her Jack, his memory would live, forever. But, this all, was, just a dream ..........

Fifty years .........................
Fifty years, I remember that day as well as any, during my 81 years, that day is etched in my memory. I was only aware, at that time, at the enormity of the event, and it has grown in importance since then. CBS, is going to recreate that day again, as it unfolded then, today, starting at the appropriate time. I can think of no other event in our history that is given so much importance.
To me, he was what I felt was the first approachable president that we had during my time. Much of this has to do with my age. FDR was a God-like personage. I heard of him daily, during the war, on the radio. He was unapproachable.
oys.
HST, a name, just a man, but still, the president, and, my interest in politics then, was minimal. Much of my time then was devoted to "other things" and politics was something I had little to no interest in, life was good, no worries. 61 63
He was elected president in 1961, my Nevada years. A lot of what I heard of him and his activities, I could associate with, he was human. It was rumored that he may even have "visited" the Cal Neva, up at the lake, and his association with Marilyn Monroe, and others. He knew Frank, and many of the "boys."
He did a lot while in office, but unfortunately for him, he will be mostly remembered for being assassinated in Dallas, Texas.
Pearl Harbor, Kennedy, Elvis, Dr. King, Coach Woody hitting the opponent, a young high school girl I worked with, upon my arriving at work said to me, "You Mom is dead." My Mom was my first "loss" in the family. It was her first time to tell someone that, just direct and to the point. Most of those moments are involved with the death of someone, I guess that is the "final," worst thing that can happen.
But, I can dell you exactly where I was standing and what I was doing, when I heard the news of Kennedy, still vivid, after 50 years.
I've had enough of "those" moments, I want no more of them.

Are we a great country, or what?
A great American is lying in state as this is written. Regardless of your politics, Ted probably stood as tall as anyone in the country. NO ONE can ever say that he didn't love this country ..... and what is going on at the same time ......... He is lying in state, and Gadhafi, one of the orchestrators of the killing of 259 people, wants to pitch a tent in New Jersey. 38 of the people he killed were from New Jersey.
A northern New Jersey mayor is going to court to stop renovation work at the mansion where Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi wants to stay next month when he addresses the United Nations General Assembly.
Where are all those people who frighten me when I drive through New Jersey. Where are all those people who live behind those gated mansions, with armed guards at the gates. When driving around I have often asked, "Who lives there."
"Don't ask," has always been the reply.
How can the "Jersey Boys" allow this to happen. They are Americans first, and whatever they are, second.
Hey New Joisy boys, the Gadhafi mob is moving in, are you going to allow this to happen? Use some of that "juice" to see that it doesn't.
Who runs New Jersey, anyway?
