"HI Jim ....... just two cups please ......."

As of Tuesday, U.S. gasoline prices had increased for 32 straight days. The media, however, aren't interested. They would be, though, if a Republican — particularly a Bush — were in the White House.

According to the American Automobile Association, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.748 Tuesday, up from $3.730 on Monday and about 15 cents higher than a week ago.

A month ago that same gallon cost $3.304 and a year back it was $3.565. It was $1.83 a gallon the day before Obama was first inaugurated.

The media are providing a smattering of coverage of the rising prices. But the press is more concerned about President Obama's golf outing with Tiger Woods than it is about gasoline prices. And it sure isn't interested in blaming Obama for the rise.

America has plenty of oil, but President Obama managed to turn an energy boom into an energy crisis

by Newt Gingrich

In the mountainous Green River Basin of the American West, running through Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming, the American people own lands containing an estimated one trillion barrels of oil, more than triple the amount of Saudi Arabia's proven oil reserves and far exceeding anything we could have dreamed a few decades ago.

This incredible supply—made up of most of the world's oil shale—should be a cause for national celebration, since it has the potential both to lower gasoline prices and to increase government revenues without raising taxes.

In 2008, this exciting energy story was just beginning to bear fruit, as the Bush administration issued 77 leases (after a seven-year environmental review process) for energy companies looking to develop the oil shale.

Then came President Barack Obama. Within weeks of his inauguration, the Obama Interior Department withdrew the leases.

And although Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said the administration would "reconsider" the leases, his department ensured that any progress would be minimal. According to a statement from the House Committee on Natural Resources, "In October 2009, the Interior Department announced a new round of RD&D leases that included significant changes to the program. The new program decreased lease acreage by 87 percent, demanded unrealistic timelines for investment into cutting-edge research, included unattainable production requirements, and implanted variable royalty rates. As a result, only three companies applied for this latest round of RD&D leases."

When did HE go to the pump last?

Obama Jokes About High Gas Prices

So sad.

President Obama plays comedian and cracks jokes about gas prices. He told an audience today that there’s “a few places” we’re not drilling… the National Mall… at your house.”

Of course, like most everything Obama says, a quick Google search paints a totally different picture of the truth.

Obama has chosen almost always to limit production. He canceled leases on federal lands in Utah, suspended them in Montana, delayed them in Colorado and Utah, and canceled lease sales off the Virginia coast.

His administration also has been slow-walking permits in the Gulf of Mexico, approving far fewer while stretching out review times, according to the Greater New Orleans Gulf Permit Index. The Energy Dept. says Gulf oil output will be down 17% by the end of 2013, compared with the start of 2011. Swift Energy President Bruce Vincent is right to say Obama has “done nothing but restrict access and delay permitting.”

“The U.S. consumes more than a fifth of the world’s oil. But we only have 2% of the world’s oil reserves.”

Great commercial

I love that one commercial, I think a Chevy one, about gas prices being so high that people can't afford to buy gas ........ their solution, buy a NEW car that gets better gas mileage. If you can't afford gas, how the heck can you afford a new car?

Car payments easier to make than buying some gas?

The Poor Guy - TinC Article

I took Marilyn in to Walmart this morning to do her demo, and as I was walking out I walked by the meat counter, I like to look at the beef, can't afford to buy any, but I like to look at it. As I walked by, there was a man also looking, and I noticed that he was crying.

I asked if there was anything I could do. He said "No, I'm a CHAIN SMOKER, I love beef, and I drive many miles a day......................"

Nuff said........................
