Why Do Girls Love Horses, Unicorns And Dolphins?

People have long speculated about why girls love horses, according to Peggy Orenstein, author of Cinderella Ate My Daughter: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture.
By identifying with these dynamic, strong animals, Orenstein says, girls are expressing their own power.
"They're all active, they're all sources of power and motion and transformation," she says.
Laurel Braitman, an MIT graduate student in the history of science who writes about animals and what we think about them, says girls' fascination with these animals is more than power — the animals fuel girls' imaginations.
"Horses and dolphins and unicorns — these are all borderland creatures; gateway animals to other worlds," she says. "They help us imagine wonderful other ways of being in the world. They let us be cowgirls and oceanographers and mermaids and princesses."

One more on Serena
The more I hear, I think Serena knew her loss was inevitable, and she did what she did, to keep her opponent, Kim Clijsters from enjoying her victory ..... even though Serena lost, she basked in the joy, of not having to look at her opponent enjoy the fruits of her victory.
Serena walked off the court to a stunned silence, not having to listen to the well deserved cheers, for her opponent.
She said that tempers were a part of the game, one of her idols, John McEnroe, notorious for his temper, I think his worst was, "You can't be serious," thank God she didn't idolize Jeffry Dahmer.
Seems like everyone agrees, she should come out TODAY, with a public apology. My guess is that she won't. If you don't have any class on Saturday night, you won't have it on Sunday.
Now I have another good reason not to like the Miami Dolphins.
